Re: Scott's Stuff
The battle damage is looking particularly great in this one. I find it neat you chose red as the undercolor.. or is that to simulate the rust thats set in? Both ways though, it looks really good..
What a great mini as well.. Id love to see an army of those guys...

Re: Scott's Stuff
Hey Robyn, didn't see your reply there. Sorry! The undercolour is a dark brown with a tad of red in it to try to get it to stand out against the red a little more. Thanks for noticing!
I think the advisor figs are some of the coolest out there. This is the second time I painted this dude. Fire away any crit's or comments please.

Re: Scott's Stuff
I had to go back to compare to the 'old' one: https://huntersofthewarp.forumakers.com/t1504-imperial-advisor-guy-help
Awsome work on the jacket and the browns, especially the holster. There is some weird lump on his hand that's on his belt.
What colours did you use for face washes? I can only pick out for sure red, but is there some blue or purple in there?
Boots don't look finished, maybe thery're just realy subtle.
Can't say which one I like better. I think I like the face on the old one and everything else on the new one.

Re: Scott's Stuff
The boots do look a bit crap. I gotta get better at doing the sharp highlights on black things like those boots.
The face has a lot of red, a bit of green, purple, and blue. Took a long time. The last time I did the face on this guy it was just a bit o' red washed in and probably a 1/2 hr. to do it all. This tie was at least three hrs. going back and fourth trying to work on the face. Gotta do more practice on faces and stuff. One thing a dude pointed out is that it looks lke I used the exact same colour mix for the pants and the belts and stuff. He said it makes him think the pants are leather but they don't look like leather. I think he makes a good point.
The wierd finger blonb is odd. I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. Kinda like a little Kwato finger or somethin'. Gross!

Johnny we'll have to have a paint day sometime in my garage.
Ack! Nazi Zombie!
I had never painted a bust before and I had this one laying around from =I=censor=I= knows when (or why). I really wanted to try some stuff out on the skin, and I experimented a little on the uniform. It kinda looks like I phoned it in on the uniform in places though. I experimented a little with red glazes on the greenish uniform and I like what I learned. Achtung... brains!

A bust! Seriously, how the hell are you supposed to game with that thing?
I do like though. Area's that stand out for me are the top of the head, I really like the effect, behind the ear, and around the eyes.
I don't like how close the colour of the uniform is to the flesh.

Re: Scott's Stuff
Wow, who makes such a sweet mini? I know everyone's thinking it so I'll just say it, that would make an awesome counts as thunderwolf with bolter.
Seriously tho that mini is sick as hell, I love the skin highlights they make him look real. The real accomplishment I think is the hood, that looks so awesome and looks like it took a lot skill to pull of such subtle shading, this impressed me the most anyway. My only critique is the treasure trail looks like it's a prison tattoo of a brown Christmas tree.

Nice work as always! Base (very well done) doesn't match the feel of the fig for me.

Re: Scott's Stuff
Painted just for heck. This was the longest time I've spent on a mini, but man do I gotta learn more about painting dirt. Don't really like this base too much.

Super brag time!

The sculptor and owner of the company liked my paintjob enough to ask permission to use it as the "studio" paint job of the mini. Pretty cool I think!

Wow Scott that's awesome! It's gotta be pretty sweet to get that kind of recognition for your work.
Also ya, that dirt looks a little plain, however it's dirt it's supposed to look plain and who the =I=censor=I= is looking at that when there's an awesome fig glued on top of it?

Agree about the dirt. Figure maybe a couple light drybrushes to make the dirt look a little better next time?

Nice! Good job!
I can't realy see what's going on with his face. Is this a picture issue? Or sculpt issue? Great skill with the paints, but it comes across as overly red to me (shield, harness and skin tones)

Yeah I've been hitting the reds on the skin for a bit now. I like it, but I need ot try something new. I am painting a mini now and not using any red in the skin tone, just to see the result.
Dana, I've been preaching to hordes of fanboi's for years now!

Re: Scott's Stuff
I played with Ryan Glover in a Flames of War tourny over the weekend. I had a good time, and I really like that game. It motivated me to paint up one of the armies I've had kickin' around here for a bit. I did this one up as a test. I'll go with some lighter highlights and a different colour ud on the next one. I also have to change up the way the paint chips came out. Not sure how yet.
