Re: Scott's Stuff
Halftrack looks great! Does that mean we'll see a return of FoW to the Radom household?

Re: Scott's Stuff
Yeah Tim I'm working on it. I ordered some stuff from Darren. I'll start off with a Tank Company of Shermans w/ Armored Rifle support. Basicaly the EXACT GODDAMN ARMY I can't find right now. Only... y'know... re-bought and started from scratch. You'll have to learn to live with playing against the "grey horde" for a while as I paint them though.
Man. America sure doesn't have much variety in Mid War. I am buying and painting the army so I can use it as a late war force as well. That means I likely won't buy any M3 Lee's. And my Stuart platoon will look like it came from the FUTURE but that's the way that shit's gonna flow son.

I was walking by a bargain bin today and saw a copy of Retrograde starring Dolph Lundgren. Since we were talking about him the other day I thought I'd give it to you in exchange for a game of Flames of War.

Re: Scott's Stuff
Tim I will take your DvD!
The head is from MaxMini I think. I wanted to paint a mini up with this head and try to make it look sorta "300"ish. So I tried to go for a colour scheme that might look a little "Subdued and earthy" but may have only succeeded in "Repetitive and Boring.". Had fun painting it though! Hadn't painted a marine in forever +1. Will do another one very soon. I also am using this mini to enter into the WAMPED II and a ladder duel vs. Vern over on WAMP. Wish me luck.

Re: Scott's Stuff
You really did a deadly job on the gold through put the fig. All of it is nice and consistent through out. My favorite part is the symbol on the shield. The way that it's worn looks great. The marine looks statuesque maybe if you added red to the shoulder pads or even added the triangle symbol onto one or both the shoulder pads it would break up gold a little bit more? Are you planning to paint your next marine the same way or are you switching it up?
Good luck in you WAMP competitons let us know how you do!

Re: Scott's Stuff
Maybe even repeating the shield emblem on the shoulder pads (or one at least) would look cool.

re Scotts stuff
Spartans prepare for GLORY... Ah finally have a reason to say that. Just watched the movie last night. I was thinking the same thing for a squad of marines. Did you think of maybe trying to use Catachan IG troop arms? Gotta have the bulky arms. Over all thumbs up, Awesome job on the base.

Re: Scott's Stuff
Scott, quick painting question. How do you do the paint wear on the chevron on the shield? I see the salting technique is the popular way, is that what you use?

Re: Scott's Stuff
Nah I just sealed it in dullcote, painted the black thingy on quick and wore away at it with a wet brush. Took about 10 seconds. Easytown!

Explain. :-) How wet was the brush, like damp? How many layers of paint do you have on the shield before that point? (Not counting the black, my guess is 3, black base-silver-gold)??
Is that just like a dry-brushing action? Or is it a very light dusting?

Re: Scott's Stuff
No, when I paint tha bronzey gold stuff it's not 3 layers of paint. I use Vallejo Model Air colour.
Base of rust
Several layers of very thin gold
3+ layers of Vallejo Game colour smokey ink.
Layers of thinned gold
Glaze in some colour, for the shield I use thraka green diluted 1:3. Another couple layers.
Layers of thinned Bright brass
Add some thinned leviathan purple glazed in.
Add a final couple layers of Chrome to the bright points.
add some more Badab black thinned down for some of the shading. Not that much.
Add some rust ink into some of the higher shadows.
And back and forth several times. between each step. The shield was maybe an hour and a half. I wish it didn't look drybrushed. My heart is broken... sadness... the nipples of mother hope have run dry...
then I sealed the mini with dullcote. The black was maybe 3 or 4 thin layers so it came off pretty easy scrubbing it off with a full on wet beat up brush.

Thanks Gavin.
Mini is by Scibor. Not happy with the pics on this one, I was trying some stuff I want to use on another mini. I like it in the hand but the pics less so. Here it is.

And Scott, take that Dolph movie dammit! It's starting to collect dust over here...

Tim! I'll take that movie! Dolph is the man. I wanna do a little work on my Finns for FoW so we could have a game some time.
Here's a little dude I painted up for a mini exchange. I like the range, their Brittanan troopers from Tor games. Stitchpunk I guess is what that genre is called. I learn something every day!
