Re: Winter playoffs
Longstrike doing nothing really helped out. He did immobilize the Plague marines raider on turn 1, and blew up the other one on turn 6. But that was it.. he either missed or rolled low to pen.
It was really your commander and his HQ squad that did the heavy lifting most of the game, as well as the Devilfishes. Shadowsun died ignominiously to a Baleflamer. The riptide was a distracting presence jumping 4d6" every turn, but he didn't kill "too" much.
I'm still absorbing the embarassment of my unwounded lord. I was more concerned about having him waving in the wind in front of Longstrike once the unit was dispatached, which I really thought would happen on the first turn. When he didnt kill the Commander on the first round and only did 3 wounds, I was pretty happy. Stuck in combat, can't be shot! I thought Id get at least one wound on your turn, free him up and be ready to assault Longstrike! Nope.. he just received a slow, shameful beatdown..

Re: Winter playoffs
If it makes you feel any better you are not the only one >.>
During a game at Astro, rolls onto the board turn 2. Shoots side armor on a battlwagon, misses. Turn 3 shoots side armor on the same battlewagon, hits, pens, rolls a one for damage.
Sigh. As much as I want to like him, I just don't think he's worth the points. I'd rather save the points and try to get two regular hammerheads with railguns.

Re: Winter playoffs
I could sum up Ian and My game real quick
Ian wins by the same number of killpoints that I fielded in Rhino's. Coincidence? :-) *laughs* It was a good game for us too.

Re: Winter playoffs
I'm still a Longstrike fan to be sure but all my rolling power went into my Riptide. I didn't fail a single Nova roll until the final turn and I rolled a 16 and a 19 for my 2 4D6 jet pack moves. Certainly kept Robyn guessing.
Shall we wrap this up on Friday, Tom? What's your availability like?

Re: Winter playoffs
Friday would be the best night.
I can leave work around 5:30 and get to the den around 7ish. Would prefer a little later (7:15?) so I can grab some grub on the way in. We can throw down at the Den if that is alright with you?

Would 8 work? The den is open until midnight after all and that way you wouldn't have to rush and I could go to the gym.

Re: Winter playoffs
So at the end of the day none could stand before the king of clowns, sultan of silliness, lord of ludicrousness, draigo.
Had an awesome game with Ian and the luck just wasn't in his favor. There were a lot of single rolls that just went blah. Although the biggest was the scatter for your crisis commander with bodyguard. 9" straight towards draigo and friends just was not good times. Although at least longstike went 4/5 with hits. And you beat up and ran down a solodin in close combat. Clearly your commander needs to switch to FE and pick up a pair of fusion blades

Re: Winter playoffs
Thanks!
I think Ian said that since the front portion was all shut down either they didn't or couldn't? Not sure. Wasn't to concerned about it since I'm sure I'll be there at some point!

Ha. Ha.
Congrats to Tom on this one. That Draigo unit was even too much for the Tau guns.
