Winter Playoff Missions
Mission #1
The Cursed Relic
Primary (5 VP): The Cursed Relic. This is the same rules for using a relic (placed in the middle of the table) with the following rule.
Cursed Relic: At the beginning of each game turn, the Relic attempts to attack/assist the closest unit. It will cast one randomly generated psychic power against that unit. It has a BS of 5, leadership of 10 and a mastery level 2 for these purposes. If the closest unit is one the random power can’t effect (for example, the Relic rolls Terrify for its psychic power, but the closest unit is a Land Raider) or has no chance of damaging, it will instead the target the next unit and keep going until it gets to one it can effect, or exceeds the psychic powers range. If the power says it targets the psyker, it will instead target the closest model.
Roll a d6:
1- Biomancy
2- Divination
3- Pyromancy
4- Telekinesis
5- Telepathy
6- Reroll on the Chart again, ignoring 6’s. It will cast the Primaris power for that discipline
Secondary (3 VP): Kill Points
Bonuses:
Linebreaker (1VP)
Slay the Warlord (1VP)
No Legs to Stand On (1VP) – if you destroy all of your opponents scoring units
Deployment: Roll a D6; 1-3 - Vanguard, 4-6 – Hammer and Anvil
Random Game Length
Mission #2
Focus Fire
Primary (5 VP): Modified Annihilation. Each additional unit destroyed from the same force organization slot is worth an additional kill point. For example, the first Elites unit that is destroyed is worth 1 Kill point. If you destroy a 2nd one, it’s worth 2 Kill points. The 3rd would be worth 3 Kill points. This applies to HQ, Elites, Fast Attack, and Heavy Support. Dedicated transports and Troops choices are always only worth 1 Kill Point. Whoever gets the most kill points earns the 5VP.
Secondary (3 VP): Control the center. Place an objective in the middle of the table. Treat this as a regular objective, and whoever controls it at the end of the game wins this objective.
Bonuses:
Linebreaker (1VP)
Super Linebreaker (1VP) – same as Linebreaker, but applies only if you have a second unit in your opponents deployment zone
Slay the Warlord (1VP)
Deployment: Roll a D6; 1-3 - Pitched Battle, 4-6 - Vanguard
Random Game Length
Mission #3
Valuable Assets
Primary (5 VP): Objectives. Place an objective in the middle of each table quarter and in the middle of the table. Whoever controls the most objectives at the end of the game gets 5VP.
Secondary (3 VP): Nominate one of your own units. If that unit is not destroyed or fleeing at the end of the game, you earn 3VP.
Bonuses:
Linebreaker (1VP)
Slay the Warlord (1VP)
No Legs to Stand On (1VP) – you must destroy all of your opponents elites, fast attack, and heavy support units. If they have an elite choice (or other org selection) that’s become a troops selection, they don’t count. However, if they have an elite choice that’s a scoring unit, it will count.
Deployment: Roll a D6; 1-3 - Pitched Battle, 4-6 – Hammer and Anvil
Random Game Length

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
If anyone has any questions or something looks completely off, let me know.
I do realize that the first mission has a bit of a randomness involved. I definitely realize it.. but I dont think it will be debilitating and hopefully a little fun. Plus, its the first mission and what's 40k unles you need to rely on a bit of luck to help you out.
We will also follow the standard format we've using for initial game set-up in regards to warlord traits, psychic powers, deployment, etc. I'll find the procedures and list it below the missions.

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
I really like the "no legs to stand on" secondary.

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
So I assume the relic uses psychic powers at the appropriate times (witch fires in the shooting phase) but what is its ballistic skill? And it is considered an enemy since it can target everything?

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
It just goes off at the beginning of the turn.. doesnt matter the type of power it is.. shooting, blessing, etc.
Ill double check the list.. i think the only goofy one might end up being puppermaster. It tragets a unit, but then who gets to choose who it shoots at. If thats rolled nothing will happen. Focused witchfire will just target the closest model. Ill update with BS.
Anyone see any other potential goofiness? I made a couple adjustments but I'm wondering if it might get to wonky. I really dont see it making a huge impact on games.. just something to add a bit randomness. Maybe Ill quickly check out the BRB devices/terrains to see if anything applies.

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
The only other funny thing I can see is if it gets targeted by daemonic possession lol BOOM no relic but instead a herald. Though I don't know if anyone is playing daemons so it might not even matter. These missions look like a lot of fun!

Well, it is a "cursed" relic, after all.

Re: Winter Playoff Missions
It cant be targeted by anything though. Its just a relic that casts powers. It cant disspear, be targetted, etc.. it follows all the regular relic rules but is tempermental.
