Re: Winter playoffs
Two heldrakes was too much for me. My empty trukks did nothing.
Actually the game today was a lot of fun. My lootas earned their keep and took those drakes down. Came down to a few close calls though I suspect if my biker boss (custom made with Godlike blending =p) had won his combat that unit could have done some real damage instead of being tied up for 8 rounds of combat. Good luck Mike!

Re: Winter playoffs
yeah. some super bad rolling on your warboss there, probably would have won you the game if you could have gotten out of that combat and taken out another tank, would have been a 3 VP swing.
The drakes really did nothing (only one baledrake everyone, the other one is armed with cannons, so don't lynch meh... plz) and your lootas really commanded the table. so many shots its scarey.
good game though! fatties meet in the middle and hash it out the old fashion way. fist and claw.

Zing!
We do have a table and I live close to the Den so either works for me. My next week is free and clear except Thursday. Just let me know your best day after the weekend.

Our side should wrap up tonight. My Orks vs Toms Grey K-nig-its! And the winner vs Mike's Chaos Marines.

Re: Winter playoffs
Two fun games in a row.
I think Beau was a little too aggressive with the vehicles turn one, but Relic against Draigowing is always blah. Although the Relic was funny (kept rolling the primaris pyro power and setting paladins on fire).
Second game against Mike was really close. Although again, primary KP against Draigowing is rough. I was only ahead by 2 KP at the end though. All those very mobile lascannons and the demolisher cannon did a number on the paladins/draigo. Really if Mike had gotten a bit luckier on a couple of clutch rolls, and/or done a couple of challenges differently would have taken it. Also first use of "Glorious Intervention" confuses people .

Re: Winter playoffs
game was completely winnable, i just failed. put my warlord in harms way too early. I messed up the challenge, but really those guardsmen were doomed anyway.
always tough winning KP games when you bring transports.
good luck in the final!

Robyn and I should be gettin' it on tomorrow so Friday night at the den may be an option to wrap this up.

Re: Winter playoffs
Ahh.. good point. My playoff list is quite a bit different than my 1750.. but alot of similarties.
I think my playoff list has a better chance against Draigo than the daemons/csm. The big guys are terrified of those force weapons...

Re: Winter playoffs
Ian is on a playoff roll!
It was a great game that literally came down to the last roll of the 7th turn.. a heldrake had a vector strike and flamer to kill 4 warriors to force a tie on kp, and give me the win on linebreaker from one berserker. I got three and the commander lved to hold on exactly an 8.
Ian had his share of goofy rolls.. but i think the champ of goofiness goes to my khorne lord on juggernaut with super axe. He had 0 wounds when he assaulted the tau commander.. after two rounds of combat he was dead and the commander still lived. Bad khorne lord !
Thanks for the game Ian.. it was tense and fun and there was alot of back and forth.

Re: Winter playoffs
Man of the match definitely goes to my commander for once again punching out a far superior foe, with a close 2nd going to my Shas'ui when he stuck around after his unit was vector struck and bale flamed.
Still nothing compares to rolling a 1 at ballistic skill 5, 3 turns in a row...
Fun was had all around though and I'd like to thank Robyn for a stellar match. Much excellence!

You bet. He's not so intimidating if he can't hit anything. :S
