Tom/Robyn: That's my point. It's not "like area terrain." Pg 98 Ruins with Bases- spells out exacty when ruins are considered area terrain- the base level if there is a base, otherwise nothing. Since it's not area terrain it follows the 25% rule.

My personal opinion?: very Very VERY poorly written. They have *4* pages dedicated to ruins. One whole page could have been written "All ruins (and all levels of ruins) are considered area terrain with a 4+ cover save." because that's how everyone plays it. As written, if you are shooting thru te front of a ruin the unit has a majority 4+ cover save and a 2+ if they GTG.... If you get on the back side (and if that terrain has no base, like mine don't) NOBODY gets a save, because nobody is obscured. I doubt this is what they intended.

You get +2 for going to ground in area terrain.. But only +1 in ruins. Its bizarre.. I know. So, going to ground in aeea or ruins will always net you 3+ save.

The ruins thing is odd. Im prone to use it as if your in ruins, and not the botton floor.. Its a 4+.

But.. I also realize its time to update and reinforce some old rules regarding the big buildngs we have at the den. I know alot of people still use the its 3" to move between floors.. No matter the distance.. which is wtong.

And the falling rules.. People were just making stuff up at the last tournament without looking it.up. Its pretty nasty if you jimp down.. The higher younare the worse it us.

After spending most of the day pondering this dilemma and consulting my magic 17 ball I would agree. The only part that was confusing me before was that first line.

@ Robyn - Jumping out of buildings is crazy now if you are more than a couple of inches up now. It adds 1 to the dangerous terrain per 3" isn't it?

Dangerous Terrain, with no saves allowed. -1 to your roll for every 3" you fall. (fail on a 1-2 for 1 floor, 1-3 for 2 floors, 1-4 for 3 floors)

Note: going actual distance on the den terrain. I know several building have 4" levels and some of the terrain will be impossible for general infantry. We'll just have to make sure we figure it out before a game with the opponent (I think we need to do this more anyways)

I work Tuesday to saturday and saturdays its only till noon, the only issue is sundays from non to about 3 so I'd say saturday afternoon would be the best for me

As with all my games with Chaos, the game tonight with Gavin was another barn burner. To top it off, I've had three games against Gavin now.. the first two being white knuckle, down to the last turn, fanstastic games that he's won.

In the end, my new dice were with me, and Gavin's were giving him a struggle (same dice I cracked for the first time against you Beau). On turn 5 or 6, the game was mine.. on turn 7 he wrestled it away gaining fairly solid control. It actually came down to the last roll of game. We ended up being tied on obejctives after some poor armour/cover saves and feel no pains from some plague marines. Through my last shooting phase I was able to grab up another kill point to put me at 5, Gavin had four. This was important, since tied on objectives, and tied on kill points, he would win due to finishing first. His Nurgle Lord on a bike with a fist just had to finish off the last two Berserkers to cough up that tying kill point. So, on the last roll of the dice.. getting 2 hits, and needing two's to win .. ack, a 1. One berserker lived and gave me the victory. It was quite the game.

And.. Gavin learned that Heldrakes got faq'd to have a turret mounted Baleflamer.

Yea the fact that the Baleflamer is turret mounted is HUGE now. Sounds like a good matchup. Adam's and mine was similar that the last couple of rolls of the game were the deciding factor. A couple of failed armour/cover saves and it would have been all over for me.

Both my fliers straight up died upon entering the field on turn 2. I also kept forgetting a lot of the rerolls the Divination Primaris unlocked for me (blast scatter, flamer wounds). The Wraiths and Destroyer Lord were brilliant, though, and drove deep into enemy territory before the Wraiths were purged. Pretty awesome Double KO on my end of the field as Coteaz and Belial hit each other in the face with hammers.

Also, none of my psykers exploded themselves this match! Yay!

TuThe wraiths/dlord were devastating.

This is why you premeasure: I deployed way back in my zone (hammer) to try and keep range at 48. I eyeballed it cuz I'm so good at that, and even my wife thinks that's 7 inches. When my turn came up I pivoted a bit and prepared to unleash hell. The FRONT of my lasbacks and Preds were at 48....so I got to fire Dick all turn 1., given that one dread had 1 hp left and the other had 2 and a WD... This could have been a game changer.

If I were Tom: one more psyker in each squad would take those to S7, ap 2. I believe in the power of a naked dreadknight. 5 PF attacks on charge at I4.,, he pretty much toasted a DW squad on his own.
