Update
Here is the latest stuff. I wrote something more but then my computer had an error and I lost what I posted. I'd like some suggestions on terminators and the librarians. That and bases....

New work online
Hi, okay I've been at work on the librarian. Let me know what you think. I've got to do a wolf pelt cape, belt and decorate the legs a little. What do people think I should arm him with in the other hand? I've been toying with a sword with a gun on his belt but not sure that works with the rules. I'm also thinking of adding more rivets to the glove so it integrates with the armor better. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Re: Update
Superb conversion thus far, seeing the completed model is something I look forward to.
Librarians can't take powerfists, so in terms of WYSIWYG, it's already no longer realistic. Given how the powerfist is positioned, I think another weapon held at his side, pointed up, would look very nice. If his arm is positioned away from his body but extended out (so his elbow joint is at ~120 degrees), it would given the model a very imposing posture.
I have always liked the look of this model (hence why I use it in my Space Marine army) so a staff (or runic weapon) similar to that would be ideal. A sword would look redundant considering the powerfist, and a gun just looks silly on a Terminator.

I've been working on the pelt. Its been going okay. Do people like the sword or should I be reaching for a different weapon? I've just bought the Chaos horsemen raiders for the heads and shields. Next up is finishing the pelt and then the loin cloth. Do people think he needs some sort of banner or more book like things (scrolls seals etc)? Post to let me know.

Looking really good dude. i gotta ask, where do you get your coiled wires? beautiful. Also, what are you using for filler? Is that sculpty, or a mixed epoxy?

Re: Update
I'm 99.9% certain they're just guitar strings, I use the same for my Immortal conversions. Helps when you have a father who teaches guitarPaz wrote:Looking really good dude. i gotta ask, where do you get your coiled wires?

Re: Update
Generally the 5th or 4th strings (the big copper ones, I don't play guitar so I don't know their names if they have any) are a good gauge.
I'm at my mum's house atm, so when I head over to my father's I'll take a peek at his strings and the one roll I have sitting on my "daddy please finish converting me" bench

Re: Update
Hi Paz, they are the guitar strings. The gauge is 32 gauge I think. They might be 24's. The packet says wound nickle plated steel strings. I found that I needed to pre-bend them a little into shape before I fitted them. The putty I've been using is tamynia hard putty. Its a yellow white mix that I think is similar to brown stuff. The Cloak was made using gray stuff (gale force 9) rolled out onto a table top coated with sunflower oil.

Re: Update
So when you make the cloak, do you wash the oil off after it has cured? as a seperate piece from the model?

Re: Update
yea, I position cloak and then after it cured I removed it since it didn't stick to the model due to the oil. I then washed it off and let it dry before refitting it. Its still loose but I will be gluing down after I do a bit fur. The oil did work like a charm though keeping it from sticking to the work surface or the tools.

Been a while
Hi everyone, been a while. Here is a link to the latest of what I've been working on.
http://www.jamesedwardhare.com/workshop/40k.html
I've been taking a break from the terminators and working on two units of scouts, a unit of assault marines and a tactical squad.
Let me know what you think. Some feedback on the green stuff would be appreciated and on the assault commanders head. I've not attached it. use a bit of blue stuff.
Also found this and thought it was funny. Very true for Space Marines.

Thanks

Re: Update
Aw man, this army is really looking good! Scouts are excellent, and your chaos warrior conversions are TOO good. I've tried the same conversion, and I can tell anyone, its hard to pull off, let alone this well.

Landraider scratch build
Hi everyone,
Been working on a scratch built landraider. So far so good.
http://www.jamesedwardhare.com/workshop/40k.html
Here is the work so far. Recommendations are welcome. I'm changing things up a bit with making a space wolf army as I've ended up with a lot of wolf bits. I'm also going to redo the terminators as I've seen some very interesting conversions like here:
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=610&
Also check out this landraider which is serving as inspiration:

Re: Update
oh wow, that landraider is looking good. I cant offer any crits, only that i can appreciate the amount of work that must have gone in thus far.
Re: Update
Nice stuff James!
Though I do find your organization a bit too much for me. I prefer the style where there is one big pile of tools, with knives, files, brass rod, and all sorts of sharp pointy things sticking out at all angles. Much easier to keep the kids away! Wife too!
Very nice work. Sculpting and scratchbuilding is all way past me.
