So it would appear that the BAO does not have a standard painting rubric they use. Generally they leave it up to the individual TO's to decide since it is such a subjective softscore. Does anyone have a preference for which type of rubric I use?

I'm partial to the GW one myself, but feel free to modify as you need.

Re: 1750 - Standard Tournament - December 14th
I like how you're scoring the battles, I think that's much cleaner than when I tried to adopt the BAO format for a 3-round event.
I'm super stoaked. I'm planning out my painting right now. Got my "to do" list, just gotta setup my project management of it....
Boyz out there... don't let me crush this one too! Bring your A-Game, my list is cray-ze

Re: 1750 - Standard Tournament - December 14th
Well the scoring for battles I got for a couple of reasons. First, and possibly most importantly, it scores a max of 20 points per game with the average being a bit lower. This means I can just add up battle points as the day goes on and it is super easy (even though I'll have a laptop there with me). Works out much nicer that I simply don't have to do any percentage conversion. Secondly it gives people who have close games a much nicer score. If you tie and score a bunch of points you can actually come out ahead of someone who wins barely by the skin of their teeth.Â
What do people thing about following the BAO format for scoring games for best general? Or just follow whoever had scored the best for this event?

Here is a question for you guys. Right now I have just the three winners for prizes. Do you want me to break it down further and award more prizes or do you all think 3 is enough?
Others I would potentially add: Favorite Painted, Best Sport/Favorite opponent, second overall, second general.

I like a best-sport / favorite opponent prize as it gives all attendee's some hope that they can win something at the end of the day.
Best Overall should go to person with highest overall
Best General should go to person with highest battle points that isn't the Best Overall winner
(IMO)
I like having 3-5 prizes + a potential door prize. I might have some door prize material I could donate (A metal Great Harlequin with a Power Sword?)

I think Best Overall/Best General (battle points only)/ best painted/best sports. If there is enough to have additional prizes, maybe 2nd and 3rd overall, or something dealing with obj on the table. (Most KP, most objs taken, etc)

Re: 1750 - Standard Tournament - December 14th
I was just skimming through the event format guidelines quick. If I am reading this right, Forge World units (baring super heavies and gargantuans) are allowed, but Forge World lists are barred. So, this would mean I could run things like Tomb Stalkers and Sentry Pylons and what have you, but I could not place it within the format alotted by the Dark Harvest list (no Flayed One troops and such). Am I interpreting this correctly?

Correct. Units from Forge World are allowed. Lists are not (so no siege marines, no dark harvest, no DKoK, no Heresy Armies, etc.)

Bah, so much for Flayed One blitz. I can still work with this, though. My Pylon will have showed up by then, so I should be able to pull different shenanigans.

Re: 1750 - Standard Tournament - December 14th
As long as it is in a current edition Forge World book which you have available to show your opponent, you have the model, it is not a gargantuan or super heavy, its rules are not "experimental", and is a valid selection in your army list.
As a side note that first portion is very important. Since Forge World does not sell digital copies of any of their materials I cannot divine the providence of anything that is not in an actual Forge World book. If you have Forge World models but no book I fell your pain (I own a copy of the first edition Taros campaign that is now worthless), but this is how I am ruling it.

Re: 1750 - Standard Tournament - December 14th
There are the big-daddy Pylon's that everyone is familiar with that are Super-Heavies. More recently Forge World has come out with three flavours of "Sentry Pylons", which live in either the Elites or Heavy Support slot, can't remember which off the top of my head, but plausibly the latter. The rules are covered in IA12 and listed as codex entries for both Dark Harvest and Codex: Necrons. They don't come with the awesome aura of 5++ and +1 to WBB, but rather operate as automated artillery that can deep strike.Aegwymourn wrote:I always thought Pylons were super heavies?

I'm putting the over under on Coteaz appearances at 4.5.
I say go with their stuff for best general.
