Re: What's a good necron tactic
also, more of a modeling tip ken, but when you assemble your scarab bases, dont build them with the suggested 4 models per base. build them with 3 to a base. reason? kits that come with scarabs usually offer 12 buggers. at 4 each, that's only 3 bases, but at 3 each that's a 4th base per box. also, they're 3-wound bases, so having 3 per base helps you have a visual reminder of that.
of course, they only give you the 3 bases in the packages, but the den sells bags of additional bases for $5 a bag. the 40mm size you'd need usually has 5 per bag.
doing this will let you get your scarab swarms up to the 7-10 base count alot faster, and you'll have plenty of extras for your canoptek spyder to spawn every turn.

Also a word of caution; prepare for a few people to constantly remind you how "op" your codex is, and imply your tactics and style having nothing to do with you winning, and everything to do with your codex, no matter what units you take (even if you try to stay away from the popular builds).
Also, it's good to try out units, I used a monolith in a capture the relic match tonight, and it was a game changer!

In defense of Destroyers, it's not so much that they're a BAD unit. Their statline is pretty good and have a pretty scary weapon. Most importantly their model is still totally bitchin' even 3 editions since they were made. Their main fault is that they are about 10 points overpriced for both regular and heavy destroyers. Also would have been nice if they had remained jetbikes.

100% agree, that and Guass Cannons used to be heavy 3, S6 AP4 guns with longer range, which was waaaay better. In the old book, people used to take 3 units of 3-6. I used to be able to pop a rhino a turn with them. Now they're decoration on the shelf. (I've taken them out for a spin multiple times, and have been disappointed every time).
You know what I've had more success with? Flayed Ones. That's how bad Destroyers are! *laughs*
Anyway, back to the point, Annihilation Barge == Awesome.

I think the biggest thing that Flayed Ones have going for them over Destroyers is that they come in numbers large enough to make Reanimation matter.
