Re: Doubles Tourney?
Here's the first draft of the rules.
WARHAMMER 40,000 DOUBLES
TOURNAMENT 2013
INFORMATION PACK
This pack explains all the details you’ll need to know about the event.
The Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Tournament 2013 is a sociable gaming event. During the event you and your team mate will immerse yourself in your hobby for an afternoon by playing a series of action packed battles and maybe swapping war stories about your favourite games at BP’s afterward.
EVENT OVERVIEW
You’ll play a series of three games or rounds over the event, each will last up to 2 hours and 30 minutes.
In the first round, players will be matched randomly against an opposing team. Each round you will play a scenario from the tournament pack.
Once you’ve finished your game, both teams must fill in their results cards and then hand them in to the events team. Your results will then be entered into the tournament database, this will decide the new rankings and ultimately the winning team of the Tournament.
In each subsequent round, teams will be facing appropriate opponents according to their ranking. Should a player draw the same opponent again, ask a Referee to step in to sort things so that the players face suitable opponents.
You shall be assigned a table for your game. Anyone that does not have an opponent should raise their hand and call for a Referee, who will attempt to find an opponent for them.
If this is not possible and the opponent does not arrive within 15 minutes of the start time for the game, then they will be considered to be late, and may face suitable action from the Referees as a result.
Each battle will be fought on a 6" by 4" table with fixed scenery; if you are unhappy with the scenery layout, alert a Referee who will ensure the layout is fair, however the Referee may insist you use the table “as is”.
EVENT SCHEDULE
09:00-11:30 First game
11:30-12:00 Lunch
12:00-02:30 Second Game
02:30-05:00 Third Game
05:00-06:00 Awards and Clean up
HOW THE DOUBLES EVENT WORKS -DOUBLING UP!
The Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Event is a social gaming event where two friends team up and enjoy playing games of Warhammer 40,000 against other teams of friends in a relaxed atmosphere.
The following terms are used throughout this pack and have the following meanings:
• FORCE is used to describe the units under one player’s control.
• ARMY is used to describe the combined forces of the two players.
You can expect a unique and fun gaming event, played within a loosely competitive framework. As such, the rules of engagement are different; please take the time to try them out before the event and contact us if you have any questions.
Additionally, we will be celebrating the skills of exceptional hobbyists and rewarding those who embody great sporting behaviour. For this to happen successfully, there are some fundamental principles that must be adhered to by all players who attend this event.
SELECTING AN ARMY
Any current 40k codex or ForgeWorld Army list may be used. Any Forge World units noted as “40k Approved” may be used as well. Note: Horus Heresy era units are NOT allowed.
CONSTRUCTION CHART
ARMY ROSTER
The key message here is, if the Referees can’t read it or understand it, then don’t be surprised if they decide to do something about it.
When you arrive at the event you must bring at least two copies of your Army Roster.
One is for the Referees to refer to, while the other is for you to use during the event.
Referees will also apply the Roster Penalty for any rosters they feel are either incorrect or below the required standard for each of the games it was used in. It must be presented in English, and contain the following information:
• Player Name, and Team name (where appropriate).
• The name of the models used in your army, as well as their points value.
• Any extra equipment or special items must be clearly marked along with their points cost.
Doubles Army Construction Chart
In the Warhammer 40,000 Doubles Event, your teams army must adhere to the following rules:
* Your teams 1500pts Army must adhere to the maximum number of units allowed according to the standard force organisation chart
* Your teams 1500pts Army must be made up of 2 Forces of no more than 750pts each. You may not transfer unused points between Forces
* Any choices that don’t take up a place in the Force Organisation chart are to be used as per their rules in their respective codexes, and are not affected by the restrictions stated below for other types of choice
1500 pt Doubles Army
Player 1’s 750 point Force must include
• 1 HQ choice
• 2 troops choices
Player 2’s 750 point Force must include
• 1 HQ choice
• 2 troops choices
Once these minimum requirements are met, your teams’ Army may then include; (spilt as you choose between the two Forces)
• 0-2 troops choices
• 1 Elites choice
• 1 Fast Attack Choice
• 1 Heavy Support Choice
Once your teams’ Army includes 1 Elites Choice, 1 Fast Attack Choice AND 1 Heavy Support Choice, (1 of each) your teams’ Army may then include
• 1 Elites choice
• 1 Fast Attack Choice
• 1 Heavy Support Choice
Once your teams’ Army includes 2 Elites Choices, 2 Fast Attack Choices AND 2 Heavy Support Choices, (2 of each) your teams’ Army may then include
• 1 Elites choice
• 1 Fast Attack Choice
• 1 Heavy Support Choice
DECIDING WHO WINS THE TOURNAMENT
After each game you must record the following information on the results card provided:
• Result of the game (Win, Lose, Draw or Concede),
• The number of Tournament Points each player has scored (see the table below).
• The number of Victory Points both you and your opponents have scored. (This will be used as a tie break in the event of a tie in your overall Tournament points).
• The number of Kill Points scored or Objectives taken by both you and your opponent.
Players will be ranked in order of Tournament Points. If there is a tie, then players that have scored the same number of Tournament Points will be separated by their total Victory Points, then their Cumulative Kill Point total.
Tournament Points are awarded as follows:
Degree of Victory Score
Win 20
Draw 10
Loss 1
Concede 0
Appearance will be based on the standard GW Painting score sheet, with a final score from 0-40.
Sportsmanship will be based on a simple scale:
“Thumbs up”- An above average game, you would recommend people go out of their way to play this opponent. This should not be your default score. 10 points.
“Meh”- Average, decent game. This should be the bulk of the scores. 7 points.
“Thumbs Down”- You would recommend people avoid playing this opponent. If you give this score, be prepared to talk with the organizer, and possibly the opponent. If you receive this score, you will be notified immediately, told what the issue is, and given a warning. A second “thumbs down” will result in dismissal from the tourney. This may also include a ban from future tournaments.
Note: This is intended to be a learning tool, to show players with poor sportsmanship what they are doing wrong, rather than letting them continue with the offending behavior.
Battle Points will be 50% of your total score.
Painting/Appearance will be 25% of your total score.
Sportsmanship will be 25% of you total score.
Best Painted and Favorite Opponent voted will give bonus points on the following basis:
1 vote- 1 point
2 votes- 3 points
3 votes- 6 points
4 votes- 10 points
Etc..
ALLIANCE CHART
Each Army may ally with only the races shown on the Allies matrix in the 40K Rulebook. Simply cross-reference the races you wish to ally with.

Missions to follow. I'm working on my own set of missions, but if they aren't done in time, slightly modified 3++ con missions.

Camper: You have the points, you only need 750. What you need, is a partner.
And The Kid is vicious, don't let his size fool ya! Bob the Dread and Dave the Lascannon devastator will mess you up.

Re: Doubles Tourney?
Ok that's good I can join and I've already battled Michael
And got killed so I don't want to go up against bob and Dave but I think with the new tactics I have I should be able to beat the kid and my friends only have about 500
So I'd need to wait to join next one I will

Question: Are both armies considered Primary Detachment, or only one? This would be important for the flavors of Chaos currently available.

Both would be considered the primary. Personally, I think it's a load of bs that chaos dudes have to be the warlord while DA just has to be in the army...

Re: Doubles Tourney?
People keep saying it's Warlord for CSM. It's not, just primary detachment. If you ran a Khorne lord and Nurgle lord, Berserkers and Plague Marines are both troops.

Re: Doubles Tourney?
SCENARIOS FOR DOUBLES TOURNEY
I'll be selecting the actual missions, deployments, and secondaries for each of the 3 missions... but you won't know which ones go together until the tourney. You WILL have each mission once, each deployment once, and each seconday once.
Roll for Mission and Deployment Style
Mission
1- Crusade
2- Purge the Alien
3- Capture the Flag- The Emporors Will and Relic are combined into "Capture the Flag". Bases are 3VP and the Relic is 5VP.
Deployment Style- As before
Place any objectives.
Roll for Secondary Objectives. Roll once on each table.
Table 1:
1- First Blood!
2- I Have the High Ground!- you have the model whose base is closest to the ceiling (Zooming flyers and zooming MC's do not count)
3- Lay of the Land- You control more table quarters than your opponent (determined by value of model in each quarter.)
Table 2:
1-Slay the Warlord
2-Linebreaker
3-A General is only as good as his troops- 1 VP if you slay all your opponents Troop choices.
Table 3:
4) Send in the Vets!: Elites (including any vehicles) are scoring units, but count as an additional VP if slain.
5) Cavalry: Fast Attack Choices (including any vehicles) are scoring units, but count as an additional VP if slain.
6) The Big Guns: Heavy Support Choices (including any vehicles) are scoring units, but count as an additional VP if slain.
Roll for Warlord Traits: Roll a d6 and choose a trait from any table available to you.
Roll for Psychic Powers.
Roll off for deployment. The player who won the roll off chooses their deployment zone.
Roll off to see who deploys first, the player who won the roll-off chooses to go first or second.
The players alternate deploying. The player who deploys first (P1) places any Forts, the P2 places any forts.
P1 then deploys their entire force except infiltrators and reserves. P2 then does likewise.
infiltrators- roll off, then alternate placing infiltrators
Scout moves- roll off, then alternate redeployments.
Seize the Initiative.
