I know this is going to sound bad..... But I usually end up just using saliva to give greenstuff or milliput a smooth look. lick your thumb. smooth it out, add details with putty knife.

same! your thumb tastes funny after a while, doesn't it? but for most gap filling, it does the job pretty good.

this is to give me a level base to construct new armour plating. think i found some beads for doing the rivets finally too.

some of the armour plating is done now. still need to do back plates and details for the sides; grills, doors, so on.

here's the armour plating finished. i have the holes prepped for the rivets, just need to go buy the beads now. not too happy with the rear hatch still; think i might cover it all up with a new plate and put a round hatch on it like i plan to for the sides. just debating how best to make a curved cut out of plasticard that looks nice before i make them.

got my rivets. they looked too small at the store, but once i started putting them on, they were the right size. only prob is some of my drilled spots are too deep so i've had to use some L.G.S. to fill them back up before adding the beads. bought a square container of microbeads, found in the scrapbook section at michael's.

started the basecoats for the command rhino. despite using tape to mask off the stripe, i cant seem to get the lines to look perfectly straight.

got the 2nd half of the models this weekend, started off on Saint Celestine. nice model to start with, but the hair being so short (butchy short) seems out of character for SoB, not to mention it was modeled stupidly. so i tried my hand at green stuff hair and it turned out surprisingly well on the first try. i might do this more often in the future to make models more individualized.

i also noticed while looking for concept artwork (to see how much of her armor's typically golden) that she's usually portrayed with wings in alot of them. so the fat angel babies and the security blanket had to go. the wings are from Dark Eldar Scourges. they look much better.

i may use the rest of the scourge kit to try and make a pair of Death Cult Assassins afterwards as well.

think im done her gold and blues. gotta start on the other details now.

i knew she was your number 1 choice for an HQ, so she deserved going the extra distance for to make her look better and stand out more

finished off squad 1's bases, and retouched their edge highlights with Blue Horror edge paint. also used some Fulgrim Pink edge paint to do all their eyelids to make their faces more feminine. the pink is noticable but not overpowering when the mini's in your hand, but came out a little hard to see in the photos.

some progress shots in my display cabinet, where this batch of girls are sitting while i work on them. you might have to right click and select 'view image' to see them better.

another quick update:

celestine's wings dont show too well in these pics, but once she's done i'll done some lightbox pics. her wings were basecoated blue, then overbrushed black to make black wings with blue highlights in the recessed areas between each of the feathers. they look nice in your hand, but i dont think too many people will see the details across the tabletop. but that could be my nearsightedness talking.

the black and bluee looks good so far from the pics....repent heretics...lol

The blue is really subdued... Could you not hit that with.... what the hell is it called... the dark blue glaze to give it a kick?

Just a thought, do not take the colorblind mans word as gospel.

started painting up some more of the units after taking a break from all the blue. not sure how you ultramarine players can sit down and paint that much blue without it bugging you. i must get it from my baba; she hated red, but would often make red doilies for people; think im the same with blues.

have you read the revised 6ed codex for them yet?  i heard rumors about how their faith powers were changed and it sounded like they nerfed them

I have the pdf codex of them. just have not read it yet. faith is some what crap now. although with the abilities to take allies they will do alright I guess.
