Point form... (after playing my Orks)

- Flyers are fun, but not broken. I like coming in off reserve, even if everything goes tits-up, at least you get one turn of killy with it.
- Flyers (well, Ork ones) can die to ground based snap shots. If you've got 3 or 4 S8 shots, you're likely going to hit, and things will go bad for you.
- Hull Points, anything with AV12 and 3 hull points, isn't that hurt by the new rules, and not being supressed on a glance is super nice.
- Hitting Vehicle's on 3's is *huge* rear armour 11, is way more important than in used to be.
- Rending is more important. With AP2 getting +1 on vehicle damage.
- Random Charge Length... is fine, sets up interesting things, but don't let it get in your head, don't assault a less valueable target just because you need to roll 2 less. Take the chance. It's no worse than missing a charge in 5th through difficult terrain.
- Flying Monsterous Creatures are the business.

- *read the rules* A couple of times I made assumptions as to how things worked, and was sadly mistaken. Be prepared for this to happen.

DP did well before.. Especially for distraction and absorbing fire.. Theyre even better for that now

I have noticed that the second FOC at 2000k has the potential to grossly inflate the point value of a list in short order. Between gaining a 3rd HQ, a 4th Heavy Support, and having to take extra troops, the list I am currently piddling with is sitting at 2820 points. That doesn't even have a C'Tan or Allies in it, either!

Who wants to bring in 6th with some Apocalypse games? Heh.

My thoughts on the "2nd detachment @ 2K" BS.

You are effectively playing 2 1000 point lists rather than a 2K list each. Great Nids get 6 HS!... so does your opponent.

It be different if some codex went to a 2nd FOC @ 2000, while others had to tough it out w/ 1.

As of right now, I find it pointless. No codex is not viable with a single FOC @ 2000.

I agree that at 2k points the second chart isn't needed, but oh, the shenanigans! I like the fact that under that system I could still run two courts and a Destroyer Lord, even though that massively bloats how much points the HQ slot eats up. I haven't even messed around with named HQs yet, either.

I'm with Beau on this one, i'll probably just be suggesting 1999 point games most of the time.

I dont think anyone is going to want to have to deal with 18 obliterators, 4 lash princes and 4x5man CSM sqauads @ 2000 points.... or any of the absolute siliness necrons will be able to pull of with 6 fast attack slots.

2500, 3000 point games? yeah, maybe. but i'm still a proponent of a graduating list.

@ 2500 points add 1 to each FOC, then for every 500 points after, add 1 each of Troops, Elites, FA, and Heavy.

Simple, not crazy or stupid. The FoC is already bloated with the Allies Rules. (sorry Tyranids)

Mark: Yes absolutely silly. I'd play against it after maybe a case of beer, tho. Same to Mike's list.

Mike: I'd have preferred a graduated system too. It's one of the few things I don't like in the new system.

If anything the Allies and Fort. being added to the FOC means MORE points before you need a second detachment.
2500 pt main list + 1000 pts of allies + 100 pts for a fort. (300ish if you go with a fortress)= no second detachment needed until 3500-4000pts. I'd go with 3500.

If they're using the second FoC to buy elites/fast/heavy, then they're low on scoring units. Play the game, capture the objectives, win.

If they're using the second FoC to buy more troops, who cares?

Does anyone think you can build a more effective list at 2000 points using 2 FoC's than simply using 1 with allies/fortifications?

I don't see it.

i have to say i find some of thes rules more remberal then the old ones and i love the flyer rules i was tierd of my vedetta get stuned in the frist trun.
but theres slome rules ive jest skimed over due to they havent seamed to have changed to much, and will lern them when i need to. Ive read want i need to know for now and il get to the other rules latter. but sop far rules look ok

Can you try using some punctuation and run that through spellcheck or something? I don't even understand half of that.
