well there's strong vibes that the next starter set 'is' dark angels vs chaos, and i can NOT see them doing that and not updating the codices for the two. that would just be uberly messed up.

i'll believe any of it when i see it in a white dwarf. i saw a rumor from a "respectable source" the other day that claimed Tau were going to be able to take IG allies in the next codex. which is just about as believable as Paris Hilton's singing career.

Saturday is the 25th anniversary of 40k. and i was @ 2 different GW stores today(edmonton and calgary). you would think if anyone at GW had a brain of any kind, they would have used the 25th anniversary to launch a new edition... or at least a new codex of some kind. but no, they are having a 25 minute painting contest and a 5000 point orks vs the world slaughter game...woooo. if you show up early you get a button and maybe a wristband. stupid gw.

The dark general

One last tidbit, again shake the salt shaker, but "the boyz" did say Chaos would get newish upgrades for our Predators, expanding their weapons upgards, similar to Razorbacks, but without the troop capacity and instead having side mounted weapons. An example would be twin-linked plasma gun turret and single plasma gun side sponsons. NOW THIS HAS ME EXCITED!!! I do hope they're not pullin' my leg! (i'll kick 'em if so!)

see its rumors like this that scare me. do they seriously want to give the option to put more rhino chasis on the table without even the need to attach them to a group? how much could this possibly cost? 35 points for the tank,(50 if its fast) 25 points for the guns? what about a fast attack squadron? Phear my mobile Wall!

sorry to be a buzz kill just got two helpings of gw employee idiocy today .

best part of the trip was sifting through some old stuff at the Sentry box..without anyone looking over my shoulder and asking me if i'm excited for The Hobbit.

I want the new codex too although i'm more in favor of a book similar to what we have now.. with HQ force multipliers that make your guy's legions possible. HQ with a mark of khorne gives you access to zerkers as troops. etc. simple, elegant. awesome.

Marks/standards need to be costed per model, not per stick. which would make marked bikes (and other units) a lot more useful.

Randomness needs to be removed from the codex. in every form. Possessed are costed about right... if you could choose their power before the game.

Yeah.. I hear you on your issues. Id be fine with an HQ unlocking the various troops.. I just really need to see berserkers abck on bikes on not baby zerkers who run away when someone dies.. argh.

Daemon weapons are horrible.. they need to go.. and possessed power rolling plus cost probably make them the worst unit in the book.. although the Chaos lord has a good argument.

I think they need to go back closer to the 3.5 codex. Daemonic Gifts. No CSM of Nurgle, etc. A CSM w/ Mark of Nurgle are Plague Marines damnit! Lash needs to be at least downgraded to the Chaos Daemons version. A few new powers wouldnt hurt. Possessed should either pick their ability @ deployment or give them a cost per model. Combine Termies and Chosen and make them like Wolf Guard. Make bikes in line w/ SM ones. Do SOMETHING w. Raptors (I'm in favor of making them like the old ones, H&R. Hell I think anyting w/ a Jump Pack should have H&R. That statement will bite me in the ass.) Give em back Furies and Flesh Hounds. Give em something analogous to a Speeder. Give em Razorbacks. Make it so Lesser Daemon have upgrades, or can be upgraded to full Bloodletters, etc.

If you where to give chaos a speeder and razorback equivalent then all I would need to play my ultra marines as chaos is a Dreadknight as a Daemon prince, use my vindicator as a counts as defiled and I'm good to go.

I just think chaos should not get a spikey version of every space marine vehicle. If that starts to happen too much then you start to get into Matt Kerr territory and no one wants to have that

Lemme rephrase... They need some thing LIKE a speeder and LIKE a R.back. A blight drone, a variant daemon engine that warps in a squad or has transport capacity. They need some firepower somewhere other than the HS spot. FA is a disaster currently.

On one hand i wand blight drones and speeders. on the other i think they would be better served by giving us daemon beast packs.
