Imotek Battle Results

Imotek's been mixed for me. Some games, amazing, others, not so much so.

I had a game today where he destroyed two pathfinder units with lightning, over two turns.
Next game, killed a 'gaunt, wounded a Tervigon.
One game, lightning killed a land speeder.
Another, Nothing.

Imotek himself, very middling. I had one match where the staff of destruction killed two thunderhammer/stormshield guys, then I cleaned up the rest of the squad on the assault (I assaulted!). The versatility of his flamer weapon combined with the staff is nice, phaeron for a unit is good.

I can see why he's 225 points, but I don't think I'll be taking him in anything but a friendly / silly match.

Destroyer Lord(s), Lord on Foot with an Orb, or 100pt Lord in a Barge. (I think the latter is the best HQ choice in the book, to be honest. Maybe toss in another 15 pts for mindshackle scarabs so you can assault a unit of whatever).

So Imotek... Conclusion. He's fun, but he won't win you games. Go for Royal Court or Hand-to-Hand Crons.

I think he did rather well against my marines. Night fighting kept me from doing some much needed shooting also. The land raider getting immobalized and the Terminators shot up by him was kind of sad.

If you need a turn or two of nightfight grab a solar pulse. I'm convinced Imotek will never appear in a tourney list (make that a good tourney list^^). He's just too many points and too random. He will possibly win you a game, but also can lose you a game by doing nothing. You just cannot afford to spend 225 points on nothing.
