So after returning from games day and warhammer world I looked through my bag and looked the massive bill labeled forge world;
deathguard upgrade kit
deathguard terminator upgrade kit
black legion dreadnought with autocannon & CCW
nurgle sorcerer
2 special weapon kits
Phobos pattern bolters
And the games day Runtbot

Then the reality hit me...
I have a fair bit to paint...

Two weeks later I finally got the first of the death guard painted up.

Don't suppose you feel lke parting with one or two of your nurgle marine upgrade thingies? I'm contemplating ordering some just for kicks and shiggles but wouldn't mind paying for a "test" before sinking in a bunch of cash.

I have a 10m squad of them and I don't want to break the matching appearence, I do have an extra terminator one if that works.
I'll get a better picture when i find where my camera ended up (fun times moving).

You have to take at least 5$ for it. I'll drop off the cash at the den if that works. I'll be there Thursday night.

As for the Marine I'd super reccomend doing some edge highlights by adding about 3:1 bleached bone to your base color. It doesn't take much time, but you'll be happy you did it.

I've looked at highlighting but I don't know where to apply it on the model...
I admit I got a real crappy sense of colors that match (and full credit to matt g for his suggestions so far).

If you want to try edge highlighting, it's just that. Highlight every edge a little bit. Or maybe just start by focusing on the top half of the mini or whatever. Directional highlights you have to pick and choose where the hi and low points are but not so much if you just pick out the edges. I think you shoul give it a shot! FW mini's are wicked and with a little extra bit you could cook up something pretty nifty for the table. I think anyway.

as I dug out the last death guard termie body I realized I forgot to mention something. this being my second use of resin i wasn't prepared for how brittle it was and there is a chip/chunk missing from the shoulder guard on the right (technically happened to lots of them but only one of the 2 i have left). I don't want to offer before you see the damage.

Its not forge world but its a bit of a change of pace from the green that's been coating my fingers. A few plague marines are almost finished as well as the sorcerer.
and dang it all i gotta stop posting larger pictures the flaw spotting is getting to me...

Finally did an inventory of tyranid stuff today... 220 models...
and though this doesn't fit a forge world theme, the 2 scythed hierodules i got sitting on the assembly desk will eventually qualify...

(I vow, to not buy any models until every tyranid i own is painted...)

so broke my vow. but i'm sure i'm not the first gamer to swear not to buy anything until everything is painted. but here is my first attempt at a crimson fist sternguard. tried a lot of different things on it.

Nice highlighting on the armor. Maybe for the eyes try blood red as a base coat, at the front of the eye screen a try a red gore or scab red. And finally make a small little dot of skull white at the back of the eye screen. But over all spot on job.
