Re: Infinity
I'd be down with that after I get the rest of the stuff I had wanted ordered. Got 1/2 of it ordered so far, but not everything. Big one is the operation icestorm box. Is Darren still taking pre-orders through the Den for that?

Re: Infinity
I think pre-orders are done but he can still order the box. You just won't get the exclusive fig.
Also, that Tohaa character in the dire foes box doesn't have the specialist rule but does have the hacker rule (which can't be disabled, only her device). Six of one half dozen of the other.

ah, well, all good then. I guess she doesnt need it with the hacker rule in effect. Most other dire foes characters arent specialists to begin with, probs why they have the specialist rule.
I really want treitak anyat. she has a chain-colt (pistol version of the chain rifle) climbing plus AND a k1 rifle (ignores all armor, counts as damage 12). gross. Tags, look out.
Anyone want to split the pano-maf dire foes box... You get two Fusiliers, bipadra and the infamous angus!

Sweet Jesus, cramming painting for a tourney is the worst, especially when you're working with gorgeous infinity figs. I've been up the last 3 nights till 1 am, and still not done. Almost, but not yet.

Re: Infinity
Yea it does suck when you want to take the time for a mini. Are you guys going to that tournament in Edmonton? If so take lots of pictures!
Super excited stuff came and get to go pick it up today! Playing around with the army builder, can easily make 200 points, just shy of 250 by 11 points. Not sure what I want to get next. I've been playing around with that list I posted. About the only thing I'm not 100% on is the group splits and the Kumotail Bio-Engineer. Until I play I don't know if I'll like having three triads all in one group. The Kumotail I don't know how good she will be. I was super bummed to find out she can't do ITS specialist stuff through her G:sync'd chaksa. Is that true?

Re: Infinity
nice, I think I'm gunna wait till N3 comes out and order a buuunch of tokens from warsenal (gotta support mayacast)!
I love love LOVE the ITS. They just updated my ranking worldwide and in canada,
I'm 118th in the world, and 10th IN CANADA. woop woop!
Instead of just playing in a tournament in another game system we all know, and having just local standings, you can have ranking around the world, actually feel like competing!

Re: Infinity
I do admit that the global ITS thing is pretty awesome.
The other nice thing is having a global standard for tournaments. That way you don't get "local meta syndrome" as much. You still do from what armies/models people play, but not from changes in rules (like the difference between NOVA and LVO for example).

Re: Infinity
exactly. Rules are rules are rules pretty much everywhere (goes with better written rules as well). Benefit of a company that supports tournaments, especially since you can get ITS tournament packs, which supply you with posters to advertise the event, prizes to give out (rare figs etc) and badges and such.
GW stopped supporting tourneys years ago, which is why you have to read the faqs and rundowns by each tournament before you even go, which can be a headache.

Re: Infinity
Yeah.. its super cool. Does Flames of war do the same thing?
GW used to support all those things.. we had a canadian ranking, everything. Im sure it was one dude doing it in his spare time as wellas doing another full time job. Its was a novelty.. but it was unorganized and sloppy. Sometimes the TO would drop the ball .. sometimes it would never get updated no matter how many times it got sent in.
Support of local events/tournies/clubs is vital to ensuring success. The only reason 40k has lasted so long is the Den's support. If we didnt have the tables there.. itd be dead instantly.
That being said.. cool stuff. What do you ba e to do to get a local event.. get one of the reps to come here and run it?

All you have to do it buy a tournament pack straight from Corvus Belli. They send you a little box with everything you need including prizes. Literally anyone can run a tournament.

Or worse when you get something ruled totally random. Look at NOVA they ruled that wave serpents serpent shield had a 270 degree arc of fire. I'm sure the gentleman that won is a good player, but having it ruled that way must have impacted his wave serpent spam.

Cool.. thats what GW used to do as well. Youd pay like 50-$100 and got a package with posters, certificates, trophies or.plaques, and a few other things. It was a good deal back then.. i loved the prizes.

One of the coolest features (if you have a tablet) is the mayanet app.
It's a list building and wiki combined, including FAQs, so rules disputes can be quickly figured out.
Basically what gw sells via their iPad digital codexs, but for free.

That is the one for apple right? I didn't think they had an andriod version yet?
Edit: for andriod they have aleph army tool, which is still super handy for building lists and it even gives you your BS by range band per model for quick analysis when list building.

Re: Infinity
so... is there a list of who is playing and what they are playing? if... if i get into this thing i want to be a special snowflake.
No one is playing the Scottish ariadnans! Dallas has Merovingians but he doesn't really play much.
No one is running Chinese imperial service either as far as I know

Ian/Paz did a post a while ago when I asked the same question. I think since I picked up Tohaa we have every generic army. But varience between lists is huge. In an army of 10 models having 3 different dudes than your opponent of the same faction is radically different. Especially when you look at the characters/TAGs. It gets even more different if you take a sectoral army from a faction (basically like taking a supplement, you reduce you choices but get benefits for what you can take).

Paz wrote:Tom: Something to keep in mind, there are the main armies of Infinity:
PanO- (think mainland european/india/australia/Philippines) Jesse- Plays as super shooty, best BS for main troops, most TAGs (tactical armored gears, think mecha from appleseed)
Yujing-(china/japan) Mathew, someone else i think?- Like PanO, but with access to more CC oriented troops and some invisibility shennanigans
Ariadna- (scots/russians/french) Dallas (technically)- Low tech, can't be hacked, access to toughest and hardiest troops, weird geo-enhanced wolf ppl, lots of camo
Haqqislam- (Islamic world, but westernized) Ben- Best Doctors, lots of assassins, good bikes
Combined- (halo covenant basically) me!- Weirdest rules, and lots of em, gets sepsitor (brain hacking!) alien weaponry like plasma rifles and best cloakers
Tohaa- (think Protoss mixed with tau mixed with Venom suits) nobody at the moment- Have access to very specific racial ability: symbiote suits. like Venom, doesnt like fire. insane special weapons
Mercs- (exactly what it sounds like) Nobody- All the cool random stuff to find here, a bit of every army
Aleph- (matrix shit, super robots and advanced tech, greek Illiad heroes reborn in robo-ppl) Ian- stupid nano-shields, most powerful heroes (human sized tags) best tech for humans
Nomads- (anything goes, similar to cerberus from mass effect mixed with the merovingian and his cronies from the Matrix and some cat ppl) Nobody at this time?- best Deep strike units, cool gadgets
there are, of course, sectorials, which are basically like supplement armies (think restrictive, like tau farsight enclaves with no allies) but that give you benefits.
At first glance they can all seem a bit similar and sci-fi-ish, but, like mass effect, they are all fairly unique to play.
Cool thing about the game is that all the units are VERY very balanced with the game, so you take whatever sounds cool to you and that will be fairly competitive, unlike GW games.
This is the list Paz did a while ago, buried on page 2.

Re: Infinity
Tom's right, someone is playing all of the major factions, but there are a few sub factions up for grabs.
Yujing- imperial service is free.
Nomads: I think Ian is doing Tunguska as his 2nd faction, leaving Corregidor and Bakunin free.
Ariadna: dallas has Merovingians, but he doesn't play much, galwegians (Scottish) totes free
As tom said tho, it's hard to run the same list as someone else, and your tactics will be vastly different, the army doesn't matter so much, what play style you want to run does: do u want to pile drive in, guns blazing? Do u want to be sneaky, and hide lots? Do u want to hack the enemy to a standstill, and shoot their immobilized armor? How about a bunch of impersonators, destroying them from within? Or just fly down and outflank them?
Lotsa options, you can even do a combination of tactics.
USAriadna and Ruskie ariadna are two new factions coming out for infinity, which will both be pretty much modern military styled, if the sci-fi space opera stuff is a bit too much

I'll prob buy a few guys here and there slowly.. so may be awhile before I get to my act together to try it out.
