I was reading over the rules for multi and you're right, we have been playing it wrong. It works (more or less) like this:

You can fire full burst with normal ammo - OR - half burst with one of the other options, either in "light" mode (AP or DA) or "heavy" mode (AP or EXP) - OR - a single burst with 2 put together (AP+EXP or AP+DA).

EDIT: "Light" mode is used in small arms (multi and sniper rifles) "Heavy" mode is used in big guns (Multi HMG). But this is covered in their weapon profile.

Now MULTI rifles make more sense as to why they're so expensive.

You can only use one ammo type in ARO, fortunately.

And remember it's specifically burst 2 with special ammo, not half burst.

So a regular MULTI rifle can do B3 with N, B2 with DA or AP, or B1 with DA+AP. ARO with one of DA or AP.

MULTI snipers can do B2 with DA or AP, or B1 with DA+AP. (You could do full burst with N, but that's still only B2 so you might as well use special ammo.) ARO with one of DA or AP.

MULTI HMGs can do B4 with N, B2 with EXP or AP, or B1 with EXP+AP. ARO with either EXP or AP. Even B1 EXP with a TAGs BS is pretty brutal though - I killed half my army during my turns against a Cutter last time I played.

And of course with N3 coming soon, that might all change, lol.

Learned a very important lesson last night: don't rush deployment, especially if you're going second. I rushed mine last night and Ian's Achilles killed 8/10 of my morats (including an entire link) within the first game turn.

Second note: watch out for Ben (not the sutherland one), someone's a quick learner, got crushed by him just before the achilles whip.

After quite a few test games, I think Ian and I have come to a strong conclusion: Achilles is the kryptonite of the MAF. While some armies have counters to his odd, insane stats and movement, my poor monkeys have pretty much nothing to handle him, unless somehow we can counter the zero vis smoke mechanic of his arrival upfield.
I don't think Achilles is broken, a vanilla combined list would have a much better chance to mash him up, but morats? Red faces can't do much, so here's hoping we don't face each other in this weekends tourney! :p

I have also learned, after all this buildup for the tourney in Edmonton, that LoS (loss of lieutenant) is suuucky. Generally with my combined, I never experience it, since g-mnemonica covers my butt. Ugh. Can't wait till Kornak gazarot comes out for that strategos level 3.

No way to kill all his cheerleaders? Isn't that the typical way to deal with super characters like Achilles and Avatar?

Ordered my first set of models yesterday! Super stoked to get them now!

I wish Darren woukd start carrying models. Id have alot more Infinity impulse purchases if he did.. 

I love the mercenaries.. but from what i could tell from the army builder if i want to use Myamoto for example.. its just the Yu Jing lists? Come on.. I want Space Monkeys, Samurai, and aliens all in one list.. what gives! 

Kidding aside.. my curiousity is still piqued. You know what i hate to say is my only hang up on the game. Its the d20 and javong to roll low. For my whole life.. ive trained myself to roll high on a d20.. how can i go against a kifetime of instict and roll low now?

I heard a rumor at the den yesterday that Darren might start stocking infinity.

I was bugging him a few weeks back as well. I told him the guys all had me interested but its hard for.me to buy in unless i do it unplanned and spontaneously. If i have to order in the figs it becomes far to planned out.

Tom: that would be the best plan, sadly Achilles has a high wip (willpower) so will most likely go first.
Most other forces could take Achilles, the morat agression force just so happens not to be one of those armies :p

Well once I get them I still have no clue how to actually play. I've read the rules a couple of times but most of it still doesn't make sense. Also a fair bit has gotten knocked out from 7th edition >.>

Going to have to brush up on them again.

Something I had mentioned to Dallas yesterday. Is there anyone that is just interested in the models from the Operation: Icestorm box set? I would really love to get the book/counters/terrain, but don't want the models.

if you want to ditch the models, i'll take your panoceania models.

tom: Thats okay, it seems suprisingly quick to pick up from 40k, if someone is showing you. Ben's first game went quite smoothly, and I'm getting better at teaching the game without rambling too much

I'm sure you wont have much trouble selling the figs, which army are you gunna try?

Robyn: Maybe I'll talk to darren about carrying a few of the starters instore? Box set starters aren't hard to sell, and the new ones out right now are looovely.

Tom: It should be pretty easy to sell the models outside of the box set. As you can already see, Mike would like your PanO and I would consider your nomads if we couldn't find anyone else. I'll be getting the starter but will be keeping all the terrain and things for demo games.

For the record, if anyone is looking to get rid of the Nomads from Operation Icestorm, I'd love to get my hands on them.  I'm just getting started with Infinity, have a Yu Jing IS force, but I'm sure Nomads will be my next :-)

If only. She isn't distracted by shiny things. Fuzzy critters get her attention and I most certainly don't need any more of those. She managed to sneak in a crazy cat lady starter kit already.

So been reading up on some Tohaa stuff and I might have to get one of the Dire Foe packs. Their special character it seems is super good for Tohaa since she has a K1 combi rifle and can be part of Tohaa fireteam (she also has regeneration and sensor, along with being a hacker and having a defensive hacking device). People who try her seem to be super impressed. So many things to get and so little monies!

Yeah she's reaalllyyy good. K1 is super effective against armor, and she also has the rule: specialist, so she always counts as scoring for all its missions (usually u have to be a medic, doctor, engineer or hacker). I guess she's a hacker already but still, if her hacking device gets shut down by e/m, she could still capture objectives. Plus the fig is sick.
I'll split the cost of the box with you, I want that combined specialist!

Hasht is sick, looks like a notifer but has a nanoscreen. Strangely only linkable with seed soldiers tho...
