PAWG Tournament!
So I noticed the other thread going on about when I'll be doing our next tourney. Well good news! There will be one in the near future. And here is the information:
I will put the signup sheet at J&Ps on Tuesday.
ATTENTION ALL GENERALS
OF THE 41st MILLENNIUM!
A call to arms! The P.A. Wargamers club will be hosting another tournament for players of Warhammer 40,000!
Sunday, February 28th, 2010
King George school, 421, 23rd St. East, Prince Albert
*Sign-in begins at 9:00 AM, first of three games to begin at 9:30.
*We only have space for 20 people, so register early!
*Registration fee is $25.00
*Lunch will be provided as part of your fee and beverages will be available for purchase.
*To register, please contact J&P Hobby Supplies:
Tues-Sat (306) 764-2333
* COMPOSITION *
* 1850 points
* Standard Force Organization Chart (only one)
* Special Characters Allowed
* Imperial Armour Allowed (a few units are more suited to apocalypse, if you are unsure, ask me)
* No Flyers, Super-Heavies, or Gargantuan Creatures
* Bring all the rules for your army (and most up to date)
* Please bring your own dice, tape measure, templates, etc.
* Identify who your “main” commander is if you have 2 HQ's
No “formal” composition rules will be used in calculating tournament results.
However, ALL scenarios will be TOTALLY objective based and favour balanced armies. Keep this in mind!
Any questions or concerns can be e-mailed to Ben McLeod

Why? No superheavies, no gargantuan creatures, no flyers... most fw units are over-costed and underpowered, for good reason (fw has often said they make the rules for FW models pretty lackluster, so ppl can't spend money to win).
I am looking forward to the tournie Ben, I always have fun, and you guys always put on a good show!

Re: PAWG Tournament!
@ Holy Cause: Please, do explain why? I impose limits on what you can bring. You're not going to be seeing a heirodule or titan or anything.
@ BenSutherland: Yup, there is all sorts of extras. Sportsmanship, army composition, bonus battle points, etc. If you've never been to a big tournament before, you should come to ours! I know I might be tooting my own horn here, but I like to think I run a solid event My tournies are not super-serious events, you want to come with fun in mind. Talk to Robyn, Pascal, or some of the other vets around there, they can fill you in

Re: PAWG Tournament!
I'm fairly convinced that the IA rules are... garbage, as in, not worth taking. Considering the prices FW charges, it's clear they just want to sell models. more so than GW. lolSpamus Eatus wrote:@ Holy Cause: Please, do explain why? I impose limits on what you can bring. the fact that GW won't let IA rules in any of their tournaments (AFAIK) is pretty off-putting.
But like I said, I won't have an army ready for this tournament so I wouldn't be playing this year anyway.. so it doesn't matter much. Maybe next year.
If I could somehow make it up to PA I would love to see how this show plays out, though.

HC= So you aren't interested because of the lackluster rules? Huh?
Ben= Small question. i have the FW Slaaneshi greater Daemon, and was thinking of bringing her. She is pretty huge, and is on a valkyrie and trygon base. I won't be running her as the FW zarak'nyel, but as a standard Keeper of Secrets. That cool?

Are there such things as non-super heavy Titans? cuz he did state no super heavies. Also, count me in

Re: PAWG Tournament!
I'd be more concerned on things like dreadnought drop-pods.
Whats that? 20 points more for a drop pot that my dreadnought can move two inches away from, shoot, and then assault six? I'll take six please.
Forgeworld rules on the whole are pretty meh. Most of the units likewise fill in gaps that in a lot of places I don't really see, but I can see why people'd use it. What bugs me about FW is the 1/100 units that they just don't think through properly.

Quick Question, is there anyone from Saskatoon that I could carpool with to Prince Albert?

Re: PAWG Tournament!
Sadly, I have to work on that weekend. So I will not be attending. I will say '*%%$^', though. I was looking forward to having my rear handed to me by a whole new set of people. Someone should take some pics of nice armies/models/battles, etc.

To sign up call J&P Hobby as the notice says peeps. Otherwise you may not get a spot. Ben has better things to do than call for you.

Forgeworld is for Hobbyists, modelers and painters, not for competitive gaming. Much like most other high quality resin companies, they produce models that are nice to look at. The rules are just extra, if you want to show em off as a centerpiece for your army.

Re: PAWG Tournament!
Without the big IA stuff walking around, I dont know why anyone would be concerned with anything else. If anything, it s overcoted.. however some people really do like to bring the odd model for a tourney if they like it or painted well. There are painting scores as well as individual model awards (at least they have in the last few) so having that cool model might be worth it.
I have brought lots of models in the apst for the prime reason they are paionted well, and not neccesarily do well on the table. That being said, it seems my dice take on some awesome blessing when I enter PA, becasue I always roll great in that gym.
As defending champ, Ill try my hardest to make it up again this time, but with a pregnant wife and a bunch of other stuff on the go, I cant promiose anything quite yet... but Ill see what I can do! I need to add to my nice collection of framed prints I have going in the game room..

Re: PAWG Tournament!
I think some people would be happy to have the IA rules included, demon hunters get rhino's in IA, ya they're 50 points but 50 points for a rhino is better then "Haha grey knights go eat dicks!" I think the forgeworld rules are fine, hope to see some sweet models at the tournament.

If I can make it, I will definitely bring a Daemonhunters army.. and will definitely buy some 50 point rhinos.. I dont want to eat any dicks in PA.
