team tourney feb/mar?

Planning on running team tourney (details to follow). Hopefully Feb, Mar if people think they need more time to prep.

875 pts per player, 4 player teams, play 1 game with each teammate.

Missions will be maelstrom, and narritive tourney. Tables will be unique planets. Might need some help with tables.

Ideally at least 4 teams.

I will be in! And i will pay attention to the forums so i will know there is a tournament! Now who wants to adopt this 40k nerd to be part of their 4 man team?

For the tables I'm thinking of we may need some new terrain.

For one I'm thinking ice world, so we'd need snow hills, building with snow flock, stuff like that. Some of the terrain at den could work I think.

The other would be a daemon world, specifically a corrupted forge world. We have a lot of industrial stuff, but how to make it chaotic. Here's what I'm thinking. Floating chunks of earth (insulation board) the stuff rests on. Working out logistics for it.

So I'm torn.....

Option 1: Team Tourney FOC
1 HQ (unless your codex does not have one)
2-3 Troops
0-1 Elite
0-1 Fast Attack
0-1 Heavy Support

Command Benefits: Same as CAD

Pluses: It's simple, quick and easy. Most people aren't going to have a problem fitting what they have in, and it still feeling like it should.
Minuses: A lot of stuff that isnt a problem gets Ban-Hammered: Non Super heavy/GC LoW, Several playstyles that use unique detachments (Ravenwing/DW spring to mind)

Option 2: Screw it
Any list, including Unbound. So any unique detachments/formations etc. One player can take a couple of formations, One can have a Space Marine CAD, another can take and Inquistion, Legion of the Damned and Assassin detachements, and the last could take the Steel Host. Go nuts. Tom, break out your Wraithhost!
Pluses: Even simpler!
Minuses: It can get stupid. Jetbike warhost with a Wraithknight + Fire Support Cadre + Librarius Conclave and First Company+ whatever.

Well thats a convincing poll, granted it is a small sample size.

Team cad in my vote. I ain't facin a knight in a team tourney...

we always have better turnout for less crazy stuff. highlander in particular. saskatoon meta isnt very hardcore

I think our meta has been pretty good lately. At 875 I don't think you would see anyone take a bonkers LoW or a bunch of D. The reason we saw it in the last tourney was only because it was an ITC which is expected to be hardcore. If you really are worried about a level playing field, put the restriction on, just not as a knee-jerk reaction to what we saw on the weekend.

I agree, it's in a good place. I think regardless of which, 90%+ of the lists will be the same.

I just know from experience all it takes is one list to make things weird, and I'd prefer to avoid it.

I'm thinking of making a side bar to the CAD- something along the lines of each player can take a LoW, Fort, second detachment or formation (max 1 of each per team).

Assuming the timing works, I'm in! I like the idea of a LoW for each (only because I haven't used one to date).

Except aren't most LoWs costly? And to fit one into 875 points is... well that's a huge chunk of points...

Talking with my Brothers and Jesse, we are going to see about attending this event as well.

If we do this "team tournament detachment"
Would this mean that I cannot use my normal "Baal strike force" force org? The two are basically the same although Blood Angels lose objective secure and gain +1 initiative on the turn that they charge.

Ya, that looks like it'd be true. Sucks for Harlequins because we lose run & charge on the same turn and Stealth & Shrouded on the Solitaire.

Yeah. I thought as much, just wanted to be 399% sure as I have to build with different objectives in mind - ya know - change my way of thinkin'
