Mark, you need to take Orks, if anything to offset the power armour that's going to be on the tables that day.

I will admit that I am bouncing between GK and 'Nids. I was contemplating eldar, but for now don't know if I want to bring them.

I totally cannot decide!

Hey Mark, for the tactical objectives are we throwing away and re-drawing any that are unscoreable? (for example destroy a building/fortification)

You can discard one at the end of your turn.

While there is a prize for best painted, is there a minimum painted requirement? I ask largely because I'm still in the process of integrating a bunch of new models into my army, and I might not have them all pretty by that time.

Nope. There's a prize for winning all your games. There's a prize for best painted, as chosen by Al (which will be "someone else", other than the overall winner). And there'll be a prize for "coolest army" as voted by the attendees via secret ballot, with a first and second choice (as the winner will not be the overall winner or best painted).

Also, I'll be bringing a Door Prize! (Un-opened Pewter Model I found in teh basement! Tom, you want to win this one, totally fits with one of your armies).

Looks like some guy with kids that works a tonne of overtime and is colour blind painted them.
