~escalation, first impressions~

Had a test game today against Jeremy and a nasty star god (transcendent c'tan)... Whoeee! 
Here's what I've come to learn about playing a lord of war:
1-The warlord traits, not amazing. There's a cc one, which kinda sucks in a tournament, where you might face stuff you want to assault, and stuff u def. don't want to. The rest are oookay, but really, not tournament great.
2- apocalyptic barrage will snipe your dudes! The blast is like a barrage weapon, measure from the centre, so a high bs guy like a ctan will snipe out with ease any heavy weapons a you may try to hide in the middle.
3- 6d6 missiles is painful. Very painful. 
4- a LoW does hamstring your opponent in that, if The Lord doesn't smash enough before he dies, the remainder are gunna have a hard time of it.
5- don't be near a ctan when it blows up. Like, anywhere within 24' if you can help it.
6- these games are gunna go fast. So very fast. We figured out jer's 890 pt ctan killed 860 pts of my guys before a grav cannon finally took it out (he went a bit easy on me that game, I was whining a lot :p)

Should be interesting to play in the tourney. loW's aren't insurmountable, but I don't think I'll be playing escalation without also rolling one, it's kinda shitty to fight a beast without one on your side.

I played against Mike's tank today.

Gave me fits the whole game, more than made it's points, but I eventually took it down. My warlord trait was garbage too (twin linked shooting? yay?)

Not sure how I'd deal with the C'Tan... 3+/4++/FNP T9 and 6 wounds.... that's a lot of ick..

he also won vs me by a land slide of VPs, btw; like...8 to 3, i believe it was.

Disclaimer: I had the Tau formation and my riptide stopped off 4 HP's on turn 1.

Very tight game, thanks to a lucky ghostwalk mantle move to grab an objective!
