I've been mucking about a bit, trying to settle on what to bring to the highlander event. What's funny though is even based on the highlander format, my lists don't change a bit. I can't take the second land raider Im so fond of with chaos lists, but at 1500 points I wouldnt have been able to that anyway.

I've got three potentials I'll list below.

All CSM

Khorne Lord
Jugg, Axe of Fury, Sigil

Nurgle Lord
Bike, Black Mace, Blight, Sigil

Berserkers (8 )
Power claw, Icon of W

Plague Marines (7)
Plasma x2, Rhino with Dozer/Dirge

Cultists (10)

Cultists (10)

Spawn (3)

Heldrake

Predator
All Lascanons

Landraider
Dozer/DIrge

This list comes out to a bit over 1500. Need to do a bit of tweaks to get the points in line. I've got the cultists to babysit backfield objectives and everything else runs forward. The Nurgle Lord is on his own, while the spawn team with Jugger. It's not the best list around, but I really do like the idea of just throwing everything forward and seeing how the opponents reacts. You really have to take out the two lords fast, if either make it to your lines there could be trouble.

I didn't realize Berzerkers could take power claws. Looks alright.

This one works to just under 1500, but I'd really like to be able to out a greater for an exalted if I can find the points. A portalgluph or Riftbringer reward would be extremely beneficial. Daemons are allies in this version, but I could easily swap them Primary and bring some horrors or something. With the small points, I think the warpstorm table could have a big effect on the game.

This list feels a bit more sound then the pure CSM one. The cultists and plaguebearers are on objective duty, but everything else is moving fast towards the opponent. Thats alot of scary threats all coming at once.

And the final list. This one is probably the most solid for the highlander event, but I like playing chaos so much.

This works out to 1492 so still a bit of room to squirt in an extra warrior or two into the squads. I've got basically nothing to deal with heavy vehicles save for a monkey lascannon and rending psycannons. I've had trouble with armour in the past, but..  there is so much str 5 prescienced shooting and has the possibility of putting down 9 scoring units, I think it would do well. I've got 6 Nemesis hammers though that can easily be str 10, so If I get close I can take them out, but at a distance my chances are slim to crack a av13+ vehicle.

The biggest benefit for taking this list though, unlike my chaos lists, everything is painted right now.

Interesting lists.

I've always heard that standard GK terminators are rubbish and should almost always be paladins? I haven't had a chance to see them in action yet.

With the missions Tom made up my 4+ troop 'Nid list has had issues claiming more than a couple of objectives. So having lots of troops is going to be clutch.

The terminators have never let down.

As a squad of ten.. anything they shoot at in a round (especially if prescienced) have a good chance to dissapear. In assault.. with halberds, hammers and swords and a hammerhand or two.. they can take out a big guy in the game pretty easy.

In a heavy objective game.. ill usually combat squad them and consider deepstriking them in to put a little bit of extra.pressure on if the other guys have to get into position.

Im not telling you anything you dont know though. For me.. i always scrape for points with the gk, and while ive made a few lists with paladins, i always end up dumping them for regular terminators. Ive played against paladins and seem to never have a problem with them. I tend to just pepper them with lascannons till they are tiny enough to finish with something else. I really hate instant death.. when its used against me that is.. so that probably has a huge factor against my taking them as well. I dont know how many times i had a daemon prince die on the first turn from a rail cannon back in the day.

Mark - No... not at all!  Forgot to apply that to the hq choices. Kharne it is ! I guess i could make him a dark apostle if i really wanted a jugg rider with an axe. Let me see.

Can't take a jugger on a apostle. All daemon mounts are lord/sorcerer only.

Ill have to fix it up when i get home. Ill prob have to Kharne it up.

I do have a few other options though. I have a lord with jump pack and axe. Or.. i could put an apostle on a bike and swap the spawn for bikes.

All those options dont seem to.appealing though...ill have to do some more tweaking when i get home and to a book.

I say GK, but mainly so you don't start panicing about getting everything painted, relax the night before, have a few beers...

The worst thing about that mad dash was that i had painted up ghost knights, 2 quad guns and a bunker.. none of which im bringing here.

I do like to punish myself. I might bring that list to Tom M 's event.. minus a fortification of course.

As much as Id like to bring daemons, I just cant get enough hounds and troops painted before the event. Grey Knights it is.

My only dilemna now is trying to decide to ditch 5 knights to take an aegis line, or stick with the troops. I'm going to have 10 terminators, 10 grey knights, and 3 henchmen squads for sure.. thats already 7 potential scoring units, and another 5 knights.. I dont think I really need that extra 5. If I do ditch them, itll free up 100 points for sure, plus another 20 from the ammution Id probably ditch a a bit extra dumping some halberds. Strangely enough, Ive never used an aegis with the Knights although I think it would fit good. My list has already ditched fliers and armour, foscusing primary on getting rid of ground troops. Having that quad gun definitely wouldnt hurt.

Seems like a decent idea, considering those henchmen squads need some cover for sure. Im also ditching the psykers to add in a couple more heavy bolter servitors and a few plasma wielding warriors.

Ill have my new list up tomorrow.
