Chainfist termies are teh suck.

How much of a premium do you pay for them?

they're only 5pts a fist, but it's more for filling out the list than anything else; those squads' options are nearly all free stuff apart from chain fists and a heavy weapon per squad.

plus, that squad has them for esthetics. but if they come up against any AV, at least they stand a better chance with STR8+2D6 instead of just STR8+D6

I think you would find you get much better mileage out of a cyclone for those points spent on chainfists. I have a few chainfists on some of my models but it's purely aesthetic, they're non functional. Against the vast majority of targets S8 + D6 is plenty I find.

Chain fist are for a normal termie squad, where you only have 5 of them. When you have that many termies on the table, someone is gonna hit and roll a 6. I might have 1 for the odd LR.

Also note the Mortis Dread are IA only for a DW list.

I'm a huge fan of the Cyclone Missile launcher. You get a lot of mileage out of those things. So many options. Lots of versatility on the table.

I've been running Chainfists for over 15 years. I've had them perform once. Although it was glorious and at a Tournament. 3rd through to 5th, they've always been more fun then good. (Which is why I take them! *laughs* Kinda like flayed ones and destroyers!)

Chain fists are much better when you only have a few fist attacks in the unit, say with CSM termies where most of the guys just have power weapons.

Also, suggested Termie builds.....

I run 1 heavy, 1 TH/SS, 1 LC, 2 PF/SB. I believe Ben runs something similar.

I think Kirby(3++) suggests 3TH/SS, 1 Heavy, 1 PF/SB as the base, for the Termies you own this might be easier for you.

I typically run a TLC sarge, a heavy, and regular guys. Occasionally I'll mix things up a bit.


As a side note, nobody else is allowed to do a terminator army around here! I WAS the only one around with one for a long time, what the hell happened? You're steppin' on my turf, bro!

Obviously your two armies must now fight to the death! Never mind the Tomb World slowly coming to wakefulness below you...
