Looks like I might actually be able to field a painted army in time for this. I'll know for sure in a couple of days.

Is it possible to get a volunteer to help pull terrain at the Den around 11 am Friday? This was just sprung on me. If anyone can, please PM me, text me (3064809815), or email me at suttobs@yahoo.com

So what happens if you aren't totally painted? I've hit a serious snag in my ability to paint and may not get done in time.

You'll take hit on painting. I'm going to be fairly lenient on this, as Lo.gas the army isn't bare plastic/metal.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
On threat of being slapped.. thet were left at home.
On a side note though.. looks like some wonky lists climbing out. I find this really interesting though for a couple reasons.
First.. is a regular league game people are still reluctant to play 2000 points for fear of a double force org. In a league format.. if someone has a list you dont like or find a bit extreme... you dont have to play them again and its done.
Now come Tooncon and Beau ups the points to 2000, allows FW, and double force org and it seems to not only be embraced but people are excited by it. I think its great.. ive never had a problem either way.. but why the change?
Why is that? Is it knowing  theres no judging for comp and sportsmanship is lightly scored or are people just ramping up their lists to win or to make sure they arent outgunned?
I ve got a wedding this sat. so cant make it.. but i know for myself i would have had a similar basic list  but would have had heavy im guessing.. from the talk i may been in the max out minority though. How are others using the extra force orgs? Will be interesting to see how some of these lists perform though. It also seems people are buying and modelling especially to fill up extra slots..
From a miniature gaming event perspective ... hmm.. not sure what i think. There are quite a few people who view 40k as a very take what works and spam it type of game. If multiple people show up with those type of lists.. might reinforce it.
What do you guys think? Im very curious.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
i for one have loned for bigger games but i agree most ppl wont go that high, i find they dont really take longer, yes i know i seem to play faster then most ppl, but that aside its usually no real difference in time. as for the dual force org i find it no real challenge to play against it just adds a new level of play to the game the only challenging part is figuring what to take, since i play wolves, now mainly loganwing, i really dont have that issue

I think its
A) ppl are more comfortable with the idea now
B) I think ppl aren't playing 2000 much in the league as more of a time constraint.

Don't forget with the Allies Matrix it rewards people for having a lot of smaller armies so sometimes it is hard to warrant building past 1750 (since people rarely play 2000).

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
But how do people feel about the potential of facing 4-6 heldrakes/riptides/wraithknights.
The argument can be made against the strength/weakness of such a list... but still possible in 2000 points.
Im just wondering if its me who still holds some bizarre composition hold over from editions past and not wanting to really triple up on things..its just when i think of having to face a list like that i cringe and i dont know why.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
To be honest more than 2-3 Riptides even at 2000 wouldn't be very good. The others I cannot comment on. Without adequate markerlight support they struggle to earn their keep.
Although all those lists that spam things that expensive usually have a huge deficiency in some are and it becomes a rock/paper/spock list. For example that Chaos list with 4 helldrakes is going to have a rough time when they come up against a death/draigo-wing army.
I also think a lot of it has to do with the events we normally run only having one day with 3 games. If we had either multiple days/games it would balance those lists out more since the odds increase dramatically that you will draw a hardcounter list.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
I think one of the big things working against 6x Giant thing armies is that 6th is largely a game about objectives. Sure, you could run 6 Heldrakes at 2k, but that's going to leave you with 980 points for your HQs and Troops, who could easily be purged from the field before the circus shows up. Six Wraithknights leave you in an even worse spot for points with only 560 left to work with for compulsory slots, with the given advantage of they start on the field. To further compound matters, running DFoC to do the six spam like that requires a doubling of the compulsory slots, so minimum two HQs and four Troops. Heck, even my Necrons can fall into the points trap, where I could spend 2400 points to field 12 giant centipede monsters with no wargear on them.
I find with most of these big things one is pretty good, and two are rad, but beyond that things not only start becoming redundant, but really start hurting the versatility of your army.
Damn it, now you guys have me contemplating a six Maulerfiend list!

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
I know the effectiveness of those lists will start be limited.. minorly.. you still have to admit dealing with 4 riptides or wraithknights wold be tough.. even for a list heavy on long range good ap weaponry.
But.. more to what i was thinking. Would those lists.. effective or not.. be fun to play against? Or.. if your going to a tourmament with little or no consequence for your list, do you still try to bring a balance to keep thngs interesting/fun for your opponent or are you bringng the pain to win it all?
Im just curious.. no right or wrong answer.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
Well I think that heavily depends on the person and what you expect at a tournament. I've pointed out that when I go to a tournament I expect to deal with the stompiest lists a anyone can field. I might bemoan the effectiveness of some lists or how stupid some things are, but its not a persons fault they make use of the same rules we all could*.
About the only thing that irritates me/ makes a game unfun is when people are just bad sports (which I define as generally cheating/heavy levels of bitching). Which I have yet to experience at any of our events.
money pending buying those models*
About the only unit that I could see spammed with any actual effectivness is the Wraithknight. They are tough enough, fast enough, shooty enough, and stompy enough, while starting on the board to be decent. Although again, certain lists will be the paper to your rock (if someone shows up with DE he is just going to laugh at you). Everything else hits that point of diminishing returns (as Tom pointed out) after about 2-3 and turns out to be worse for your list.

Re: TOON KKKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
In my opinion, when someone plays a list like that you just need to resist the urge to go after the big things with equally big targets on them and just go for the throat on the troops that they will have so few of. Once you purge them, you just need to do your best to keep your scoring options alive for the remainder of the game. 6 Wraith Knight would have me concerned, though, as an Eldar player would have enough used slots at that point to simply put anything that isn't a Wraith Knight in walk-on reserve to force you to place your wrath on the wrong targets.
If anyone starts running things like that, though, I can almost guarantee a rapid revival of poison and sniper weapons, along with stasis bomb tricks if your army has them (Wolves, Knights, and Necrons all come to mind).

Well most lists also have access to cheap stubborn units as well. Although you are right that a lot of people have access to either snipers or poisoned weapons this edition.
