Black Legion Info

Some info re: the Black Legion.

Must buy Veterans of the Long War and Chosen count as Troops.

1. That I can actually use the book with my CSM
2. New Warlord Traits that largely don't suck.
3. Assaulting out of Rhino's
4. New Wargear that includes a Daemon Weapon anyone can take.

I think your going to be denied on all counts.

if we can take chosen as troops without dishing out for abandon... that is interesting.

A premium cost for 5 scoring (X) in a Rhino?
  - flamer guys
  - melta guys
  - plasma guys

Edit: Although I might take a two autocannon unit in a Rhino (or even on foot)

I have a strong feeling you will be able to take chosen as troops without Abaddon.. but at what expense.. im not sure. Maybe less access to other elite/fast/heavy units? Maybe no daemon units allowed? Who knows.. but how stupid would it be that you had field Abbadon to get chosen as troops.. and then still be forced to buy VoTLW for everyone.

Im still holdng out hope for scoring terminators and like Mark mentioned, new daemon weapons.

The pages shown were pretty underwhelming.. including showing that old ugly Abbadon model everywhere.

I.am preparing myself for nothing cool at all.. then i wont be dissapointed.

Well the fluff did go on about abbadon collecting relics and forging alliances to make his legion stronger, that could result in a better wargear selection.

the elites section of the codex is basically a wasteland, so anything done to make those models table-worthy (and marketable) would be in GW's interest.

Chosen as Troops with No Abbadon is all but confirmed.

I don't know if that's "Good" or not. Is it good? Chaos Land Raider with 9 Chosen in it with mixed power weapons and a Chaos Lord?

I'm interested to see if...

1) Mark's of Chaos are affected (Are you allowed to mark your Lord with Tzeentch, for example)
2) Are they Battle Brothers with CSM still? (could be interesting)
3) Do they add any additional special rules?
4) Do the Warlord Traits suk or are they good? (1 or 2 of the CSM ones are good)

I just came to post that. Showed up on my iPad last night. 50 points for Sx2, ap1, melee, armourbane, fleshbane, and instant death. I'll buy that for a dollar.

did you read it though? its a single attack, not all your attacks. its almost tailor made for a Slanesh unit champion

Now. reading that description, does it replace all of your attacks, or just one of them? think i read somewhere that you can only use one special weapon at a time unless you have a rule that lets you.

I think, from the wording, that it is supposed to be like Slam. I agree, though, that would be super dirty on a Slaaneshi lord. Throw that on with a bike/steed, and you suddenly have a rocket punch of death cruising the field.

Also, straight from GW's site comes the promise that there will be something new for Termies in this book.

My big hope for the book is something for termies... like the Fearless rule maybe?

Oh please two wound T4 terminators. I want to taste all the sweet delicious tears when Riptides with Ion Accelerators serve them a big piece of str8 ap2 pie.

Black Legion syuff is flowing fast. No real big surprises.. although black legion can ally with csm. The internet is scared of 4 heldrakes..
The artefacts all look good. Theres one that gives a Chaos lord EW.. thats makes me beyond excited.
The really scary one is a one use unlimted range artefact that automaticallt causes d3 penetrating hits on a vehicle.. ouch.
Faiet 212 has the rumours.. plus an awesome one about some potential supplements for the cjaos.. Book of Khorne, Book of Nurgle.. etc. Its a dual supplement offering rules for playing csm and daemons in one army as long as they are all marked the same. Sounds super cool..

Chosen are just trooos.. no abaddon needed. If you take abaddon.. one of termies can be upgraded to have +1 ws and bs.. for 6 points a model. They also are still elites. 6 points... ?! Thats way to much.. i really think it should be a free upgrade or free troops conversion. No real point to take abaddon in a Black legion army.. at least if thats all he does.

Have to wait and see.

The book is available for download (iPad) today, so all the rumours should be morphed into actual details.

So, some nifty artifacts, and that's about it, then? I will admit that a ML3 Psyker prince with Adamatine Will and Eternal Warrior sounds scary, though.

you can do some crazy expensive things. like 400+ point daemon princes with leve 4 casting and EW and AW... but other than that its a pretty weak suppliment. i'm not sure what we were hoping for, it seems that GW is unwilling to address the book in any real way.

nerf drakes, beef up delivery methods. given interesting ways to play the army that don't involve plague marines and have a chance at winning games.

Drop Pods would fix so many things.

or... my kingdom for an ork truck.

The guys at frontline didan army with 11 Oblits.

Not sure why people expected Chaos to get better Rhinos then regular Marines and Chaos wont' get Drop Pods, several of their units would be too good with them. Podding in a few squads with Doom Sirens sounds like real fun, especially when they'd be backed up by Helldrakes and a guy with the Burning Brand...what a hoot that would be for any hybrid or foot-based army!

This supplement is very similar to the Iyanden one, new Warlord traits, artifacts and a rule or two but nothing that would fundamentally change the way the army plays, unless you go the Chosen route and try an elite army where nearly every guy has a special weapon (who knows it may work better than expected).
