Counts-as flyer and some thoughts.

Flyers are here to stay, and you almost HAVE to have them in your list (or at least a way to deal). An issue that has popped up is the fact several flyer are the ONLY option for an army and lack a certain.... aesthetic appeal. I plan on using FW Landspeeder Tempest and Chaos Hell Blade to count as a StormPigeon and a Heldrake respectively (although I'll likely use the Hell Blade as is as well). Conversions seem to be the name of the game.

This caught my eye. Dude is playing a Mindschackled Deathwatch counts as chaos list. The profile looks similar to the Dark Talon, just with Stormraven rather than Aquilia wings

Here's a question. Tank conversions and whatnot have to be fairly close in size... Flyers tend to be above most terrain and most stuff has LOS to them. It seems at times like the only reason you need an actual model is so you can measure from the weapons. I'm kinda of the line of thinking it doesn't matter HOW big the flyer is... Just make whatever works. Agree, disagree?

As long as your using a model of some kind and some effort is made at wysiwyg im happy.

I found a couple hell blades online that im going to stick a magnetized scythe blade and a flamer on and use interchangebly as a drake or talon. Its the same model as far as fluff goes. Kinda like using old dreads as hellbrutes. Just depends how far along the mutation has come.

Technically you are allowed to shoot to the "wings" of the flier for measuring. That would be the only reason I can think of for having a model of similar size. Not that I would mind unless it is obvious someone was modeling for advantage.

As long as its similar in size, although flyers ignore terrain, they still have to be within the board edge and 1" away from other big things (enemy flyers for example)

I think seeing some hell-talons around would be rather spiffy =)

Wasnt there a player at the last Tournament that used a couple hell talons?

Drew Podratz usually plays 2 in his Warseers (Tzeentch Chaos Marines). That said he plays them according to IA.
