lol, this is true, but i wanted to just point out that you wouldn't have to worry about seeing a primarch or a super-heavy popping up in a guys list if they played one under 2000pts.

as for explaining all the new wargear, most of the common stuff is just renamed, slightly altered versions of existing stuff, and the few things that are all-new wouldn't take too long to explain. it would take just as long to describe the wargear as you go as it does playing someone with an army your not familiar with; if I'm playing a DE, Tau, Ork, or nid player, I'm constantly asking them to remind me of their stats and what their weapons do cause i don't face them enough to remember most of it.

oh, i noticed contemptors in this one got their RA nerfed to 10 now. so they're only a FA13 SA12 RA10 dread now.
the termies arent much worse than hammernators if you think about it. only these are stuck with a power weapon and combi-bolter. storm shields didnt exist in 30k millenium.
devs where everyone takes a heavy weapon.....yea, i got nothing there. actually, the cost is hefty; it would cost 285pts to take a 10man unit with missiles (frag and krak only) on everyone. 335pts for the entire squad to gain Flak missiles. 5man Havoc squad with missiles is 135pts, 175pts if you give them all flak missiles.

I dont mind the dev squads with say 10 lascannons. Expensive.. Vulnerable and the regular squads cant take a heavy weapon.

I havent read through the actual book yet but it looks really unique.. Unlike the chaos book

Horus is pretty wicked.. Save for anther primarch.. Its hard to see how horus could ever go down.. Some bad rolls aside of course

Let Beau field him. For the first two round he'll roll 1's like a boss... lol How ever I will admit when 10 Purifiers and 8 gk termies charged his 3 man command termy squad only 8 purifiers and 1 termy walked away from it. But that was rounds 3 to 5. I think.

I would for sure play and we have a table to donate to the cause. Maybe some terrain as well but I can't say for sure.

Small update. I contacted McGuire's, and give them the info on what I'm looking to do. No response. Checking into the civic centers. Cosmo has been recommended. Also going to see about renting the gym at one of the schools.

Check the Library auditoriums too.

You should talk to Darren from the den about maguires.. He might be able to swing a deal or something..

Gonna drop by tomorrow to talk with Darren. A few other idea have been thrown about for locale....

The masonic temple is another choice. You can rent the one hall and there is a door you walk through and they have a bar you can buy from.

There is most definitely NOT enough room at the Roxy for a tournament.

Update: Darren is more than willing to help with table and terrain, and throw in something for the winnings.

McGuire's is out. Not sure of exact reasons, but I got a "no".

Looking into a few other options at the moment.

Update: I have a few worst case scenarios.

Will def be able to get a venue. Worst case $300 for the day. We could have 1500/4 rounds or 1750 or 2000/3 rounds.

We're currently at 40 people max. Due to terrain/tables. Venue can fit 25 tables, maybe more.

Expenses are looking at $600 estimated, including lunch. That's $15 a head @ 40 ppl.

$25 entry = $400 prize support
Each +$10= +$400.

Potentially, we could hold an event in conjunction with the Flames of War crowd. 16ish tables for us (32 players) and 8-10 tables for them (16 ish players?)
