Having a guaranteed 4+ cover save wherever I want, and if I back away becomes difficult terrain for my opponent to jump over to eat me sounds like a bargain for 50 points. I find not having power armor makes it much harder to get armor saves with the number of ap 4 anti-infantry weapons rolling around.
If you have a halfway decent printer, I have a pdf I can send you of one.
This idea intrigues me. I would greatly appreciate the assistance!

I guess I haven't been on Hunters in awhile. I'll have to get down to the Den and sign up before it fills up. Is there a max number of combatants?

16 max, there are only 6 people actually signed up.
Get paid up before it fills up, I imagine it'll start getting filled up around the 10th.

Re: Welcome to Sixth Edition Tournament, November 17th *more details in first post* **No Spots Left!*
I have a small question due to Forgeworld (sorry to keep bringing it up). I do not have a copy of Imperial Armor 3: The Tauros Campaign because it has been out of stock since I got back into 40k earlier this summer. I am going to troll around ebay/bartertown and see if I can acquire one. I do have the pdf update from forgeworld and a pdf copy of the page from the relevant IA book. Would those be sufficient if I am unable to acquire said book?

That's fine Tom, as long as it's clear to me and your opponent what your bringing and what the rules are. Toss me a PM when you've got it worked out.

I'm using the Tooncon Paint scoring chart. (Thanks Ryan!) I might modify it slightly in relation to the "appearance voting" but here's how it boils down.
Get Painting!
Army is fully painted, but only to the three-color standard of basecoating. 10 points
+ Detail - Applied to Bulk of Army
Clean Basecoat Colors: Base colors are painted neatly. 1 point
Details: Details are painted such as eyes, buckles, and jewelry. 1 point
Hand-Painted Details: Details (that are well executed) have been added such as unit markings, banner artwork, etc. 2 points
Clean Highlights: Lines are neat, drybrushing is appropriate; inking is controlled and not sloppy. 1 points
Beyond Basics: Highlights have been blended, shaded, or layered well - beyond the basic highlighting techniques of drybrusing and inking. 2 points
Army is Uniform 1 point
Basing (worth up to 2 points)
Check all that apply to bulk (80%+) of army.
Based/Detailed 1 point
Extra Basing: The bases have multiple basing materials (rocks/grass), extra details painted on them (cracks in tiles), or if extra basing is inappropriate, basing is done very well (eg. rolling desert dunes). 1 point
Conversions (Worth up to 2 points)
Check One Box for conversions that are appropriate and well executed
Minor: Units have multi-kit conversions including head and weapon swaps. This is for more than a few models such as a unit. 1 points
Major: The army has some difficult conversions that use things such as putty, plastic card, drilling, sawing, minor sculpts, etc. This could also apply to the entire army having very well done multi-kit conversions (see above) 2 points
Other (worth up to 3 points)
3rd Choice in appearance voting 1 point
2nd Choice in appearance voting 2 points
1st Choice in appearance voting 3 points

I have an idea on how to handle fortifications...
Allow each player who has a fortification in the army to remove an equivilant sized piece pre-set up terrain in their deployment zones to place the fortifications...
I dont use fortifications but i know some do, may as well not penalize them without clogging up the table... Just make sure there is terrain in the deployment zones during game set up.
What you think?

Quality idea Matt. I'll keep an eye on the lists as people register and see how much of an issue it is.

I am going to see if I can swing getting the 17th off work, and if I can I'll boot it on down. Somehow I don't see myself winning painting with the amount of catch-up I've created for myself.

It looks like the 17th should be clear for me now. Just need to start turbo painting. Curse today's 12 hour shift!

Get to a 3-colour standard and bring some of your conversions and your score will be fairly decent Tom.
Edit: Sign-up quick, as there aren't many spots left.

The soonest I can be in Toon town is tomorrow. Dread Talon won't make it to the tourney, but Dakka Dread #2 is a nifty little conversion piece, at least.

I am so close to having everything painted. I may come up a few models short though. They are new finecast models that I added since the new codex. Without warm weather I can't prime them
I may have to bite the bullet, piss the wife off and just spray them in the basement.

Warm water, soap, and a toothbrush will do it.

Thanks Everyone.
TOP PRIZE WILL BE $100 Dragon's Den Gift Certificate!

Well, I guess I can calm down on the painting then. I'll still probably swing by for trades and candy.

Want to be on the wait-list Tom? If we have a repeat of this weekend's weather next weekend, the fine gentlemen from Regina might not be able to attend.
