And running the numbers.. Mark or someone.. Are destroyer lords betyer at cracoing vehicles then a bloodthirster .. Seems kike they are with armourbane and the ap1 warscythes..

Yes, the Destroyer Lord is better at popping vehicles. 4 attacks on the charge, hitting on 3's, with +2 on the pen table instead of the 'thirsters meager +1. (50% explode vs 33% explode)

Although... depends on the vehicle. I think the math is more favourable to the 'thirser on AV10 AV11.

The math depends on the Destroyer Lord getting his Preferred Enemy against Vehicles.... it doesn't say it doesn't, just re-rolls 1's to hit and 1's to wound (which doesn't apply to vehicles). D-Lord can count on 3 hits, which is upwards of 66ish% chance of destroying AV14. Thirster with 3 smash attacks... is close to the same for destroyed, 60ish%.

I'd have to run the actual math instead of guessing, but I think it's close.

FOC is same as always, and Aliies add MAX 1 ea. HQ, E, FA and HS, +2T.

I also noted BB allows you to use psychic powers (like guide) on your allies, and youd be able to have your IC join an allied squad, but it explictly states you cannot embark into allies vehicles and the FAQs seem to indicate most of the character/army buff only affect their own armies (Vulkan does not grant guardmen TL flamers for instance.)

If you look under the missions (I think that's where it is) if you're playing at 2000pts or more, you double the FOC.

FOC doesnt start to be a limiting factor until 2500-3000pts and more for some codexes.

why not +1 to each FoC slot @ 2000 points and every 500 points thereafter? seems much more reasonable to me.

I scoured the internets and found a torrent... that had corrupt PDF's.... now I'm scanning my computer for viruses for the rest of the day. O_O

Heh, no kidding. I think I caught it before it got into my registry. Ran some scans on key areas of my machine, rebooted, no shenanigans, running a couple full system scans now.

In the meantime, I changed all my passwords from a different PC. Kinda made the afternoon non-productive though.

And stupid Sophos for not picking it up in the first place, and stupid me for not having "No Script" turned on in Firefox.

Question to the group-

Terminators versus "our weapons are useless" rule.

Am I correct in surmising that if one is assaulted by terminators, say, a warrior squad of necrons for example, can I just choose to lose combat and run away, and since terminators cannot sweep (unless this changed) I don't have to worry about Being caught?

Also- usefulness of phaeron upgrade- sans assaulting, which is really not a common tactic with necron shooting troops, what is the point (no pun intended) to this 20 point upgrade?

Nope, because "our weapons are useless" says if you cannot hurt. Since your necron warriors are able to wound the terminators you can't. I believe you have to have zero models that can hurt the opponent before you can use this.

Well, a surf board lord could still jump off the board into a squad of Wraiths, all with Transdimentional Beamers, unleash a full volley, and still charge. However, an empty Barge is a Sad Barge.

Transdimensional Beamers can be fired as snapshots... (they still sux), but the Phaeron Upgrade would allow them to be shot at full BS.

Actually, hopping out a surfboard lord isn't *so* bad, I mean, the wraiths can move 6", shoot the t-beamers, then hammer of wrath into combat.

Edit: T-Beamers suck, and Phaeron's only really useful for gimmick units now (like 5 warriors with a Phaeron lord and two court lords assaulting something)

I found a full version that i think is safe. giving it a once over now. apedicies and all.

Defilers picked up 4 Hull points baby. still only AV12, but at least it will take some hits to blow it up. gives me hope that they will match the Soul Grinder for AV once the new codex is available. pretty sure its the only AV12 vehicle in the book with 4 HP and most ave 13 vehicles have 3 HPs.

T-beamers are a precision tool for dealing with St. Celestine, and little else. The tool is there, though.

did anyone find a blurb about Flak Missiles and if everyone with a missile launcher gets to use them?

I see it listed and talked about several times, but nowhere can i find anything to say who actually gets them. Folks with older armies and no fliers are going to have a hell of a time vs flyers until certain codexes get upgraded.

I believe any straight up ML gets them. It isnt listed as an option for Typhoons or Cyclone IIRC tho.

You have to pay points to upgrade, IIRC, there's only one codex that gets them? I'm not sure which. Give it an ask at Dakka.

Edit: My machine seems clean...

There is nothing in the SM codex FAQ about paying to upgrade to Flakk, and it's listed under the Missile Launcher line in the BRB, meaning it should be a 3rd option after frag/krak.
