Here's the start of my guard blog. The pics didn't turn out very well. I was in a hurry and didn't do any lighting other than room. I'm trying to go for a British Colonial scheme, I guess somewhat like the GW Preatorians minus the blue pants. Next time I'll try for better lighting, or just go to Scott's.

"Live for nothin', or die for somethin'.".

"When you're pushed, killin's as easy as breathin'.".

"They drew first blood. Not me.".

"Do we get to win this time?".

Those are nice mini's. My one beef is the colour scheme. It's nto that it isn't cool and all but since we live in Canada people at every tourny are going to say "Hey... those are the colours of the Canadian flag." over and over. It's like when I painted my first dwarf army green and white (NEVER AGAIN!!!!) and whenever we travelled people said "Oh, it's the colours of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Yeah, you must love them!". It's gonna wear thin real soon.

Nothing to really crit on the army. Looks nice and clean. I think I'd like to see something on the armour to sorta break it up a little. Any chance for some quickie squad markings or something on them?

But I like Canada...

There are going to be squad marks for sure. Just don't know what yet.

Your figs are looking good. I really like the guy with the slinged up arm and grenade launcher. They defenetly will look complete with markings on thier shoulders. Im glad you got away from your usual off white and blue this time around. Everything looks good from the pictures but I cant wait to see them with my own eyes to be able to see if there is anything I think you might be able to improve on.

you should also post up some of your WIP like your phsycic battle squad. Thoes would be great to see from the converted plastics to fully painted. Once you have a squad or two fully done up give use some quality pictures so that we can really see your guard in all its glory.

Keep up the good work! great start on your guards road to octocon

yeah scott but none of those really fit his mini, I was leaning towards "=I=censor=I= the world" but it doesn't seem like something he'd be shouting.

Here's the list I am planning on taking to Octocon. Pretty much a standard Mech guard list. I want to field something competitive for this event.

HQ
CCS – 50
4x Plasma – 60
Astropath – 30
MoF – 30
Chimera – 55
TOTAL – 225

ELITES
Marbo – 65
TOTAL - 65

Psychic Battle Squad – 60
+5 Psykers – 50
Chimera – 55 - Done
TOTAL – 165

Stormtroopers – 85
2xMelt – 20
TOTAL - 105

TROOPS
Vets – 70 - Done
3xGL – 15
AC – 10
Chimera – 55 - Done
TOTAL – 150

Vets – 70
3xGL – 15
AC – 10
Chimera – 55 - Done
TOTAL – 150

Vets – 70
3xMelta – 30
Demolitions – 30
TOTAL – 130

Vets – 70
3xMelta – 30
Carapace - 30
Chimera – 55
TOTAL – 185

FAST ATTACK
Vendetta – 130
TOTAL – 130

Armored Sentinals x3 – 165
TOTAL – 165

HEAVY SUPPORT
Demolisher w/HB’s – 185

Demolisher w/HB’s – 185

Manticore – 160

TOTAL ARMY - 2000pts

The CCS will provide mid-range firesupport with plasma and "Bring it down orders", I'm thinking of possibly turning one of the dudes into a medic to help when I have to kill MEQ's with them. Astro and MoF for the reserve shenanigans

Marbo is Marbo - Uncertainty for my opponent. Stormtroopers as a suicide tank buster or distraction with thier re-rolling deepstrikes. And the PBS for helping run off major threats.

For troops I went with all vets. The demo guys go in the vendetta. Melta vets to help push mid-field with the Demolishers. The GL/AC vets in chimera act as objective taking bunkers. I took the GL's to increase the torrent of fire I can produce from all the str 5 and 6 I have, they can also push mid-field if need be.

Vendetta is placed on the table if I go first and flanks if I go second. The sentinals are there for torrent fire that can also tar-pit if something gets too close.

The Demolisher's are both there to put pressure on and be targets. Manticore for D3 template.

Well, that's the army and my thought process behind it. It will probably change multiple times over the next little while as I play test it and find what I like. I still have 30pts to spend as well.

Any and all criticisms or ideas gladly accepted. Thanks

+1 karma for taking Stormtroopers!

3 Armored Sentinels seems like overkill for what you want them to do, have you considered replacing one of them for a Hellhound?

I have not considered the Hellhound. Would need to shave more points to get it, and I'm also not entirely sold on it.

I prefer the armour 12 sentinal's for being armour 12 and able to actually tie something up for a game. Flanking is neat, but I think for this army more shots from turn 1 is better?

Paint/Modelling Night Friday. Location: My gaming room.

Dana, Cam, you guys still in? There's room for about 5 people (comfortably) so if there's a couple others interested in getting some work done on thier army you are welcome to join. Just let me know on here or PM me.

ps the lighting sucks so bring a lamp if you can. Oh, and bring music (cd's) or else you're stuck listening to my awsome beats!

I plan on having my first veteren squad finished by the end of the night.

Paint/modeling night again this Friday Sept 10.

Room was probably 1 person away from being full last time (maybe 2, could use the desk to). Everyone welcome again. Please let me know in advance if you're coming.

Camera's fixed so I should have some picture updates soon.
