Apocalypse Game???

Post  Lord_Commander_Stash on Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:26 am

It is about time we had an appocalypse game. I vote we schedule it for the release of the new Guard codex (tee-hee). Any thoughts/ideas/requests for what should be done?

My vote is for a two day event like the last one was supposed to be.

I would definately be interested.

I think it would be best as a 4-team event (2 good and 2 evil) of 2 to 5 players each. The first day, Good1 vs. Evil1 & G2 vs. E2. Day 2, G1 vs. E2 and G2 vs. E1. The victorious teams of day 1 would recieve a bonus, pre-determined strategic asset on day 2.

To keep it reasonable, I think that each team should be limited to 7500 point divided however they wanted. Thus:

2 man team --> 3750 each
3 man team --> 2500 each
4 man team --> 1875 each
5 man team --> 1500 each

As well, I would be tempted to place some minimum limits. i.e. Every member must have at least 2 troop choices and 1 HQ choice or something similar for the whole team. Of course, Each team would have to appoint a team captain that would field the Lead HQ choice. Team Captain would also have some other responsibilities.....ie. Keeping track of Strategic assest, keeping their team members on track, providing the time estimate for set-up.

As well, I think it would be fun to add the Lead HQ choice be a two-point objective for the opposing team. Basically, if the Lead HQ is defeated, they are left on the table and now count as an objective. It could lead to some interesting late game rescues.....

The final thing is that....the armies on both days would have to be the same.....then there would be no adding units on the 2nd day to kill the team you are facing.

Those are my thoughts on the matter.

Rob,

Ya....I was actually considering it. It would be nice to do on the weekend of the 2nd/3rd as we will be in the playoff part of the league. I will think about it over the weekend, and decide if I want to organize it. I might ask you for some help.....and if we are really sneaky, we may get you $100 credit for hosting a GW event.... :-) Honest Mr. GW Man....Robyn organized it all....and he wore his Grey Knight T-Shirt and everything.....lol.

Ben,

In the past, we have just placed the "neutral armies" on the side that needed extra players.....sometime Eldar fight along side Chaos and Orks, and some times the stand with the Guard and the Space Marines....
