James, when is a good time for you to play? I can play this Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Next week works too, but I don't have my schedule yet.

This wed. is no good for me. And my wife works all weekend, so I have to watch kids. May have to play our game next week, I should be free after 2pm every day then.

I'm going to have to hold off on playing any games this week. My dad died today. I'll be heading out of the city to be with my family and attend the funeral. I will be back sometime next week, hopefully in time to have my game.

Jeeze, that's really bad Tyson, of course, take all the time you need. The playoffs usually last a few weeks and that's a really good reason to postpone. My condolences.

Re: Playoff Games
I played James today at the Den. It was a hard-fought game which I narrowly won. The scenario was seize ground with spearhead deployment. James had a mixed Guard/Inquisition force with 2 Russes, 2 Chimeras, 3 Armoured Sentinels and some Grey Knight Terminators and an Inquisitor leading a combined infantry squad. He also had 2 lascannon squads and 2 small squads of Ratlings. I had 3 Wave Serpents with a unit of Fire Dragons and 2 small units of Dire Avengers, 3 flank marching War Walkers, Warp Spiders led by an Autarch with a jump generator and fusion gun, a kitted-out Seer Council on Jetbikes and a small unit of Guardian Jetbikes.
Turn 1
I reserved my whole army. There were 3 objectives, 1 in James' deployment zone (where his combined infantry squad deployed), 1 in the exact table centre, and 1 deep in my deployment zone. James moved his Platoon Command Chimera forward, along with his 3 (each a separate unit) Armoured Sentinels and 4 Grey Knight Terminators. He also deployed his infiltrating Ratlings near the middle of the table, and a Veteran Squad with Harker on the objective in my deployment zone (looking a little isolated).
Turn 2
James was first player, so he moved again. Then I rolled for reserves. James had an Officer of the Fleet to cancel out my Autarch and I only managed to get two units on the table! My Seer Council and Warp Spiders decided to show up, that was all. The Seer Council had 5 Warlocks with Destructor so that was 23 unsavable wounds for Harker's unit near my table edge. Harker had to take 2 wounds and failed one of his feel-no-pain rolls. The Spiders came on and hugged my short board edge to try to avoid much of the Guard's shooting. My Jetbikes used their 6" free move to move away as well.
Turn 3
James pushed his Terminators and Sentinels forward again, but held everything else pretty much stationary to mass his shots. Fortunately for me, his lascannons were out of range of my two units. So I was subjected to some Multilaser Sentinel fire, 2 Russ Battlecannons, 1 unit of Ratlings and the Platoon Command Chimera. I had both good and bad luck here. A Ratling put a wound on my Autarch and I promptly failed a ld10 pinning test for my Warp Spiders. Aaargh! However the Seer Council rolled good saves and I only lost one Warlock. One of his Battlecannons missed completely, while the other hit and rolled 3 ones to wound! I rolled for my reserves again and got only 2 more units onto the table! My 76-point 3 Guardian Jetbikes unit came on (thank goodness ), and a unit of Avengers in a Wave Serpent. My Seer Council managed to get their Fortune psychic power up past the Grey Knights' psychic hood (whew!). My Warp Spiders did nothing (pinned), my Seer Council moved forward their maximum (basically his whole army could shoot them next turn) and my Serpent came on behind a Russ right by his short table edge. I was able to target its rear and my shooting was very effective. I destroyed its Battlecannon, Heavy Stubber, immobilized it, and shook it, turning it into a Heavy Bolter bunker.
Turn 4
James fired both Lascannon Squads and his remaining undamaged Russ at my Wave Serpent near his table edge. He blew off both Shuriken Cannons and shook it. He basically fired the rest of his army at my Seer Council and their Fortune did its work. I believe I lost 1 Warlock to shooting, and suffered a wound on my Farseer. His Ratlings killed a Guardian Jetbike but they made their pinning and leadership tests. I rolled for reserves and got another 1 for my War Walkers so they will not appear until turn 5. Bah! My other two Wave Serpents (Fire Dragons and Dire Avengers) came on. I managed to get Fortune up on my Seer Council again (hooray!), but my Guide was denied. My damaged Wave Serpent decided to attempt a ram on the side of his undamaged Russ. This did not work out too well for me. My Wave Serpent was immobilized (and therefore wrecked) while I did not even scratch the paint on the Russ. Things went a bit better on the other side of the board. My Warp Spiders moved up. My Seer Council moved into assault range of his Platoon Command Chimera and threw 5 Singing Spears at it. This destroyed the Chimera in an explosion and killed 2 guardsmen and pinned the remaining 3. My 2 Guardian Jetbikes turbo-boosted near the centre of the table where they could threaten both objectives next turn if left unmolested. My Fire Dragon Serpent moved on to the table just in front of his two Armoured Sentinels (blocking their movement next turn), with side shots on the third. My Avenger Wave Serpent moved on close to my deployment zone's objective and took some pot shots at his Termies. I got an impressive 5 wounds, but he made an equally impressive 5 saves. My other Serpent gutted his Sentinel, immobilizing and stunning it. In the assault phase my Warp Spiders warped an impressive 3" into dangerous terrain and took another wound on their Autarch. My Seer Council assaulted the remaining 3 Platoon Command guys. This worked out really well for me. I killed two guardsmen, but the Lieutenant made his leadership test so they remained locked in combat.
Turn 5
James fired everything he had at my 2 remaining Wave Serpents but they held up. He shook the Avenger one closest to the objective. His Terminators blew away my 2 Guardian Jetbikes near the middle of the table, and his Ratlings killed a couple Warp Spiders, but they made their ld 10 this time. In the assault phase his two Sentinels assaulted my Wave Serpent. I wasn't too worried, but I should have been! They blew it up and killed a Fire Dragon inside as well, but they fortunately made their pinning test. My Seer Council easily dispatched the brave Lieutenant and were well-placed to mess up the combined infantry squad in my turn. Bottom of 5 I got Fortune up again but failed Doom. My War Walkers came on automatically. They of course did nothing, their 18 str6 shots managed to stun a Chimera. My Warp Spiders moved into shooting range of the Grey Knights and my Autarch melted one with his Fusion Gun. My Fire Dragons blasted a Sentinel, and my last Wave Serpent with Avengers parked on the objective. My Seer Council moved into assault range of James' combined infantry squad led by the Inquisitor. At this point I had one objective, James had one and the centre one was unclaimed. I still had 3 Destructor Warlocks left and they managed 16 Heavy Flamer hits (14 wounds). To this was added 3 wounds from the Catapults on the other two Jetbikes. This ended up killing 11 guardsmen, 1 heavy weapon team, wounding another and wounding the Inquisitor. Then I assaulted, killing another 3 models. The Inquisitor struck back and killed a Warlock but the damage had been done, and James' pile-in moves had dragged him off of the objective. He rolled for game end and got a 1. Eldar win 1-0!

Aye, placing the vets forward & Alone was a big mistake, and Tim capitalized on it nicely. I was not expecting those templates. Very concise Summary Tim, It was a well fought game, and I enjoyed it.
But don't doubt that the Inquisitor's Guard will be back next league, hopefully with some new additions.

So I barely won my game against Ryan, so now it's time for Tim and I to have a smack down.
When do you want to battle Tim?

Re: Playoff Games
Sounds like you guys had a tough one on your table. If I'm correct, the main objectives ended up being tied and so they had to go kill points, and Joe ended squeaking by with a 8 vs. Ryan's 7.
In my game against Stash, everything seemed to go my way. I got lucky in the first turn and avoided any serious damage to my transports despite the nice array of Chimeras and autocannons around. My Daemon princes must of strapped on the good armor as well, as they were able to survive the entire game, and shrugged off a good 4-5 invul/cover saves each in the first few turns. A one shot kill on the Vendetta helped out as well. Thanks for the game Stash.. thats two lucky games Ive had against you now where the dice were going my way..

Yep, Robin's daemon princes had their Borg shields on that game. If I recall:
One took (throughout the game) 8 wounds from the demolisher alone (all AP2), a couple plasma gun wounds, and 3-4 random armour saves.
The other took 5 plasmagun wounds from the command squad, 2 other plasmagun wounds, and about 3 armour saves.

Re: Playoff Games
Joe and I had our playoff game on Friday, Sep 18. I won't go into a lot of detail because it was a pretty poor game from my perspective. 18 s6 shots = zero glancing or penetrating hits vs armour 10. 1/4 of my army lost in a deep strike mishap. Squad of fire dragons runs off the table. Horrible reserve rolls. Despite all of this, on the bottom of turn 5 I had two wave serpents with dire avengers in them left. One contested Joe's objective, while the other tank shocked him off of my objective. He failed a death or glory roll on this tank shock and this was the only model of his I killed all game. You heard me correctly, I killed one model in 5 turns. Obviously the game did not end here and he killed one of my two remaining units on turn six so I shook his hand.

Re: Playoff Games
It was a horrible game all around. I don't want to take anything away from Joe, because he played a fine game so I don't mean to belittle his achievement. But he made the rolls he needed to (he only failed one armour save all game, although he didn't have to take too many) and I definitely did not. I will be returning to Marines next league. I want to collect some of those all painted bonus recon points!
