October 3rd Tournament Penciled in!

I've pencilled in October 3rd for a 40k tournament. Get painting!

Short pre-details... More to follow (no signup sheets yet)

Max 16 players
-- will be first come first serve
-- $10 / person, paid in advance
Using Community Comp

20points per game, 3 rounds -- total 60 pts
50points comp
40 points painting, judged by me using some sort of rubric

Prizes (in order of most valuable)
- Best Overall
- Best General
- Best Painted
- Best Comp
- Door Prize 1
- Door Prize 2 ? (Raffle?)

Missions will be a spread, 1 kill points, 1 eternal war, 1 maelstrom // covering all three deployment styles.

1500 points, no gargantuan critters or super heavies, otherwise Lords of War are permitted. You get a bonus tournament point if you take Imotekh, because he's super shitty. (Totally serious)

Is there a link to community comp? I have no idea how it works

Also how about using 30k marines? I find them fairly underpowered compared to 40k marines ( no ATSKNF)

My big question is if I am allowed to run the Cult Mechanicus and Skitarii books at the same time?

I can do it two ways: Use the detachments from each book and mash em together, or use one from a book and then attach the other using allied detachment rules from rulebook.

why not use the WD formation, the adeptus mechanicus war convocation ben?  its pretty much tailored to what you field anyways and its a single formation.  you need a skitarri maniple, 1-3 knights, and the default admech CAD in their book.  i can find it for you if you didnt purchase that issue of WD

A. Cuz i dont have the models needed to field it yet.

B. Its disallowed under the comcomp i think.

C. Its bullshit of the highest calibre and i refuse to stoop to that level of neckbeardery

Ben, is the issue that they are both large detachnents?

If you do one an allied detachment, it'd have to be the CM, no, since Skitarii dont have an HQ.

For the record, my opinion is the limits on detachnents should go away. If you wanna take 2 CAD more power to ya.

mark, are we using the small game penalties for the tournament, or no? i thought the coomunity comp system only uses those for games under 1500pts.  small and medium games (medium being 1500-1749) both use the 16 credit chart.  this should probably be clarified before any of us go further in deciding on a list.

I think he mentioned it in Brians list thread, but yeah, small (1000-1749), large (1750+)

that's the comp score chart to be used, yea.  but im referring to page 2, "how to use this document" there it states:

A Small Game is any game between 1,000 points and 1,499 points.
A Medium Game is any game between 1,500 points and 1,749 points.
The Community Comp Team recommend a 20 Credit Limit for Standard Games,
and a 16 Credit Limit for Small and Medium Games (as per the tables in the Converting
Your Credits to Comp Scores section of this document)

it's the big paragraph in blue.  so according to that, a 1500pt tournament is a medium game, and therefore we don't use the small game penalty; that's only to be used from 1000-1499.  so i wanted to be clear on whether we're following the pdf to the letter, or if you're making changes to it for the tournament.

20150805.doc  guys, go redownload it.  i clicked it today and this is the one i got this morning.

and i just clicked it again now, and got 20150817.doc:  it still has the same paragraph.  its just in black now instead of blue. same page.

And they've literally just put out 20150817.... Medium is a thing 1500-1749.

Sorry for the confusion, I was focused on the actual scoring of the event and not the credit costs of armies. Follow the most current document to a "T". I will have a copy printed at the event which I will be using to calculate your comp score. Pre-calculations by players are not required, but would be helpful (as then, it's just a matter of checking your work, saves time).

As such, 1500 points is a "Medium Game".

Of course it's scheduled for the day I have a crossfit comp. Guess I'll be missing this one.

Just add some weights to your models. Do both at the same time! (or just come for beers after)
