Grey Knights get Predators, Vidicators, and Whirlwinds now?  The heck?

No more buying Might of Titan.  All the stand alone psykers (with the notable exception of basic inquisitors (which may be coverd by "psykers", don't have my 'dex on me atm) ) generate from Sanctic, Div, Pyro, Telekinesis, and Telepathy.

GK Squads just straight up know Banishment and Hammerhand from Sanctic.  No more choosing squads for their unique powers.  No more psychic deep-strike defence.  Except for Purifiers and Crowe, they get Banishment, Hammerhand, and Cleansing Flame.

GK Bolster Defences now applies to any piece of terrain that points weren't spent on, not just ruins now.

GK Psychic Pilots get Banishment and Sanctuary.  I'd call this a buff.

Aegis: Re-roll 1's when trying to Deny the Witch.
Reinforced Aegis: Re-roll ANY failed Deny the Witch roll.


Warp Stabilization Field: REMOVED

Brotherhood Banner: No longer automatically turns on force weapons.

Generic Inquisitors got their own entry covering that they get to pull form the same disciplines as the rest of the codex.

Can't stack Psyk-out or Rad grenades.

Librarian Furioso, Psychic Pilot (Mastery Level 2)

BA Libbys generate from Biomancy, Daemonology, Divination, Telekinesis, Telepathy

Mephiston is mastery 3, and generates from the above disciplines. WOOO, I can generate 3 powers now instead of the 2 it was before!!!!

Cool, Only 25points to upgrade a Libby to mastery level 2 (was 50pts before to upgrade to Epistolary).


So not really a HUGE change, though the price of upgrading a Librarian to mastery level 2 is big. Blood Angel Librarians are still over-costed for what they bring, but its a step.

The change to Meph is big. Before he could lose all Blood Angel powers he had (was 3) to roll 2x on the tables for new powers.

The old Blood Angel Psi powers no longer exist. That's big. No more Wings of Sanguinius, Sanguine Sword, Blood Lance, Blood Boil, etc. Going to have to aquaint myself more with the new powers.

Until a new codex comes out (rumored it will be after Orks), I can see Mephiston seeing a lot of board action. I don't see any reason not to roll all Biomancy (Iron Arm now static 3 Str + 3 Tough, and gains Smash)... Meph running around Str9, T9 5 wounds... eep. Also Endurance Yar.... My little monstrous creature.... Very Happy

Orks no longer have their own discipline. Only demonology.

All psykers and brotherhoods in daemons can take demonology.

and runic weapons are +1 to deny the witch rolls.

Here's a question for you, with the whole Witchfire Machinegun Ahriman has become. Can he just keep going provided he has a steady supply of warp charge? Ie: Doombolt x3, followed by Firestorm x3, followed by Life-Leech x3, et cetera.

all demons get demonology on top of what they already have
(but i don't think they get the demonology primaris for free cause the get the gods primaris for free)


and heralds loose the primary detachment rule , hellllooo demon ally psyc bateries

The Tzeentch one I can somewhat understand, as it was a mechanic to let them manifest as a real psyker while still holding the same base line crap Ld the rest of the codex has. With the new system of casting, you could be Ld 2 and still have the same chance of getting a power off as Eldrad does. Shadows, however, filled a roll similar to the Aegis, as a psychic defence.

I could see Tzeench getting something new once GW realizes that this is a thing that happened, though.

don't think TZ really needs the change. as you said, the LD increase was only there in order to make TZ daemons usefull casters. its an unnecsary rule now... except if you can use it for the perils rolls Smile

... As far as shadow in the warp. i'm not sure if it needs "fixing" iether. Nids generate a fairly large number of psykers. which means a good number of dispell dice. And if the enemy perils, hes definitly going to have a harder time succeeding in his LD tests. I doubt GW is really a fan of anything that nerfs thier new baby, the "psykic phase"  look at the runepriest nerf, thats huge   'UGE even.

Edit. Superfriends lists with Adamantium Will and a Runic weapon are going to be murder on spellcasters though Smile

Another couple of GK points.

Techmarines can now repair Hull Points (good to have now)

Servitors just say any Inquisitor. So if you take lots of them you can take an inquisitor detachment and throw them in your servitor squad to babysit.

Vindicare assassins lost their ignore LoS rule

Storm ravens lost deep strike

They took out the FAQ for dreadknights with weapons getting 4 attacks, dunno if that was intentional (actually came up against Ben)

I will probably make a post with my thoughts on GK tonight when I can read more.

Having had a chance to consult with my copy of C:Gk now, I can confirm that the "psykers" referenced in the FAQ early on is inclusive of the ones from the Inquisitorial Henchmen Warbands. Rather sad to see Psychic Barrage go way, not so sad to know that I can add a Mastery Level 1 psyker to my list for 10 points, simply by tacking on onto any warband I happen to take.

prety sure that would only be on powers that target your unit, so kinda meh, definately a nerf imho
