7th Discussion
Well, the nets been flooded with the impending new edition... just over a month out.
What the hell?
Im excited for a change... i think. I really dont know what the hell to think. I cant keep up with the changes anymore.. so much crap going on.. too many books to buy.
What do the rest of you folks think? I want some rebalanced .. but with gw we know what that means. Something gets nerfed... something else becomes powerful.

Re: 7th Discussion
I doubt very much it'll be a total overhaul, just a mashing of the books. Sadly, the book pushing is getting a little silly lately, they should be concentrating on what gw does best, makin sweet sweet plastics, not huge amounts of fancy overpriced rules.

Re: 7th Discussion
i dont believe its a new edition at all. this time around, they're doing a recall on all the big rule books. they never did that before on new edition releases. what's more, the digital edition of the rule book is still available for purchase whereas all the paperbacks are now gone. i think it's just a reprinting of all the hardbacks to include all the fixes they've been making so the paperbacks are now in line with the digital editions.
Re: 7th Discussion
Ya me and Tyson made the joke that they are just charging us for an FAQ now, kinda laughed when i heard this is them including the FAQ and some rule tweaks in the new book haha

Re: 7th Discussion
exactly; its not 7th edition, its not 6.5; this is 6.1.2 edition; second printing
edit:
if you look at the books on the site, the BRB, Planet Strike, Cities of Death, and Apocalypse Warzone: Damocles, are all gone. but only the paperbacks. itunes still have them for sale.

Re: 7th Discussion
They did mention a huge update was going to happen soon and I think the PDF drop on black library was just a tie over until the new FAQs could get finished

Re: 7th Discussion
This is still pretty new information Mike.. there are people who visit here that are fairly casual gamers and dont follow 40k news daily.
Thats what were here to do.. help, inform, discuss. No reason to get on anyone for not knowing.. even Dom.
You must see alot of the same thing over on B&C as well.

Re: 7th Discussion
It's the opposite over there. The sites exploded with page upon page upon page of people discussion. If you were to search if would only seem like a couple threads, but a few have already been locked and hidden cause it escalated to people threatening to goto GW HQ and "beat some bitches down".
The rumours themselves have been there for all of 2014 actually, it's just now that people seem to be getting all chicken little over it because it's clear they're doing some in a month and there's the new unprescidented move of recalling rule books instead of just not printing them and selling them. They didn't do a recall of entire BRB and starter sets when 6 or 5th came out, and this is what the real kerffuffle being made on the net is about because people are wildly speculating what could they have done to the rules to require a recall. Recalls aren't something a big company likes to do cause it publicly shows you admit you seriously fucked something up and are trying to fix it

Re: 7th Discussion
.. or they just realize that anyone buying a 6th book 5 days before a new release is going to want a refund... and nobody likes giving refunds.
Its not a recall unless they tell me to send in my book and give me a new one.
I would assume that this "sales Ceasing" would just be good practice when dealing with an edition change. God forbid GW actually ever did something right for a change.
I'm not unhappy that they are updating the rules, i assume the new edition will be playable... i'm unhappy that they will expect me to pay for it again so soon. which i won't.
They might as well set up a subscription where i need to pay them $15 a month like an mmo so that i can have access to the "living rules of 40k"
(hmm now that i think about it, thats a great model, i should pitch them)

Even better put it on all the different devices and it auto-updates like the itunes version. I'd be all over that. With a little note when they update stuff so you don't have to troll the FAQs each month.
Quick make that phone call! DO EEET!

But that requires software guys, and making the rules a priority.
They are a model company remember?

I like alot about the current edition.. but it hasnt been my favorite, thats for sure. I welcome a rules update but i dont want to pay for it. I have as many base rulebooks as i do for D&D, and ive been playing one for 15 years longer. Its really stupid.

Re: 7th Discussion
It's been a while since i commented but here goes. In the last X months GW has been on a blitzkrieg of 40K books and now version 6.1 or 7.0 however you want to bake it. I ask then what's next another blitz of 40K 6.1 or 7.0 codex books cause however this last bit has been the golden goose is running out. I know at least for me the deluge of releases has pretty much shut me down on the hobby no point getting a 2nd or god forbid a 3rd job to support the habit. I know i know you can go steal all the books but that just seems wrong to me at least. It will be really interesting to see how the future is seen of this hobby.

aervyper: I don't think more books and models means more money, you just gotta control your addiction dude.
And 70 bucks after two years of one book ain't the end of the world. I remember when 6th showed up, adding allies, and the interwebs let out a great cry of "cheese" and "eff this im selling my armies 40k is dead to me".
and yet, we have a very strong community.

Re: 7th Discussion
for me it was the "good" lore i loved buying what i thought was cost effective codex's. It was fun for me that way i guess with 5 codex's a year it's just gotten a little out of hand i guess, compared to the old 2-3 codexs at 40$ each a year i don't know. Old age and all lol.
