Re: Summer league playoffs!
I totes understand Mark.
I apologized for missing our game, and you said to not worry and that we we just do it the following week. You then could not make it that week. Which I understood, but now we were 2 weeks behind on the finals.
I recognize that as a multi-player game, we in the 40k community need to make time for each other in order for things to run smoothly.
As a student, I am definitely less busy that you must be; as such I sincerely apologize for wasting your time.
In the end though, it is sort of still just a game. If you wanna say that I missed our match last friday and therefore I should take a loss, that is fine. Also, if you think that I should take a loss for the unfortunate case that I got into a motor vehicle accident on my way to my game with Tyson last Tuesday, then again, I understand. I missed the appointment, and so in interest of moving things forward we could do simply that: move forwards.
If it is no great offence, I am playing a game with Tyson tomorrow. And Tom has an opening on Thursday for a game. As such is the case we can be over and done with all this in 2 days.
I very well understand that the world does not revolve around me. I understand that on one hand it is just a game and have no problem bowing out of the league finals. But on the other hand, the games are happening anyways so why not just finish it.

Not taking a side here, but:System Commander wrote:Ahh yes, sorry guys..some family issues have come up unexpectedly and I wont be on the computer for the rest of day.
If you guys dont mind, just roll one of Tom's missions randomly. Tie breaker will be the standard kill points first, league placememt second.
At the risk of ending all y'alls fun, Robyn is dealing with a family issue, which is a hell of a lot more important than this, and this is something he really shouldn't have to deal with on top of that.
Adam/Tyson/Tom: He's said it 3 times. Tyson vs Tom for the finals. Adam and Tyson are welcome to play a pickup game, but don't make the man repeat himself a 4th time.
Please take this to PM, email, or text.

My apologies for any stress this might have caused Robyn in an already stressful time. To do such was not my intent.
Back on topic, hopefully by Thursday at 6 this league will be resolved, and by Friday we'll be going on the next one. It will be nice to have some play test matches for the coming tournaments be worth points for the league.

Re: Summer league playoffs!
Adam,
I think it would be wise for you to take a step back during the next league, take a little break, and reflect on what we're telling you. There's a common theme here. The specifics of each individual case of yours are not specifically relevant to this discussion. The "last straw" for me was how "hectic" your life is, when it truly isn't, it just feels that way because you (maybe subconsciously) expect the world to accommodate your situation. That sense of entitlement pervades your overall demeanour, where you feel your opinion is welcome to inject into a conversation you were not involved in, or that your rules queries super-cede whatever other people near by were discussing.
Step back, take a breather, and reflect on what we're telling you. Don't get defensive, absorb what's happening and you can potentially improve your interaction with people (like your whole employment situation this spring/summer before you went overseas).

I might be a few minutes late today, whole household is sick and is causing things to drag. I will be there, though.

Re: Summer league playoffs!
Alrighty, we finally came to the conclusion of the summer league. In the end I managed to win out over Tom's Necrons. While I don't have time for the most detailed battle report, as I need sleep before work, I can say that Tom's list was at a disadvantage due to my lack of vehicles and my ability to bypass the defenses on his. We both had our share of good and bad luck but the worst of it came from Tom's deathmarks who showed up one at a time on turn 3 and 4 rather than showing up early or at least on the same turn to add some serious pressure. Without the ability to pressure the broadsides until turn 4 he couldn't prevent them from removing his back line and making it hard for him to hold points. The final nail in the coffin was that I went second allowing me the opportunity to contest/control any of the mid objectives. Good game there Tom, looking forward to playing you some more in the new league with Farsight Enclaves.
