Eldar Colour Tests
I did a brown wash and brought back to white for the Guardian. I'm tempted to try it with black and see the difference (then go with whatever works better?) I really do like the brown.
What's the new brown wash called? Anyone know? I don't want to use that much of my old flesh wash (I need it for cultists). And I'll be using it on the Wraith Knight and two Wave Serpents... so ya... gonna use more than 1 pot I think.

if you want a dark brown, you got 2 choices. GW's Agrax Earthshade, or for more wash for less cost, buy the Army Painter equivalent, Strong Tone.

Re: Eldar Colour Tests
I know there were slight dfferences between the old/new black and brown washes.. But bavent seen it. Just finally started using the nuln oil.. But working my devlan mud still. I stocked up on the old stuff.before it left.
Im sure.youll love the brown opposed to black.. You prob dont even have to try. Black wash on white always just looks odd. Blue might be interesting to try if you want a cooler look.

Re: Eldar Colour Tests
Nice thing about painting Eldar is all the different colours for the aspects. Really breaks it up.
Finished a Warp Spider (looks *great*) and will post a new pic once I finish a scorpion (killer idea, hope it works out. Worst finecast kit I've ever bought ever)

Yeah scorpions were in the first wave of finecast, i have some, not so good...lol The beautiful thing about the aspects is that even though they're all different color schemes most of them have a color tying the force together. IE the yellow on the crests of the dire avengers, the yellow fire dragon helmets, the yellow details on the scorpions, makes for some awesome color variants and still having a unified looking force.

The Beast is table-top ready.
I need to go back to the gems, and clean up a few errant brush marks. Before I do that, working on the other elements of the team tournament list

Re: Eldar Colour Tests
Farseer turned out *spectacular*.
Those plastic clam-pack figures are generally quite good. I'd take a picture, but I can't get the lighting right to capture what I did right (for once). He looks good!
The four-step process I'm doing on the gems looks really good (dark brown -> dark red -> light red -> wash to make shiny), especially on a small figure.
=== Question Time ===
Will the strategy I used for the wraith knight translate well to a Tank? -- Purely from a Colour Palette point of view -- Like, what should be green, what should be white. I'd like something more white and less green than GW uses for Biel-Tan... should I just do a handful of panels green? (Kindof like the Iyanden Some blue on mostly yellow?) For you colour theory people... what should I avoid?

White, then washed and brought back to white.

Re: Eldar Colour Tests
For tanks Mark, i would think if on say a wave serpent you painted it white, painted the panels right around the cockpit green, the "cow catchers" on the front green and then maybe the turret green? :S..... im not sure how that would turn out. However if you wanted to try your hand at the Biel Tan thorned vines on the wings i think that would break it up enough to make it work.
EDIT you could also make the bottom green or black with grey highlights, that would also likely contrast it up enough to make it work

Re: Eldar Colour Tests
I've been painting thorns over white, and wrapping hearts in them (which contrasts well with white). On the Wraith Knight, I had the torns pointing the wrong way.
What I might do is just wing it on a support platform and go from there.

its on a Super heavy tank but i think it would translate just as well to wave serpents and prisms
