Re: infinity
So how much terrain do you need for a game? And what's the normal points value for a game?

Re: infinity
Infinity is alllll about terrain, table should have at least 75% terrain or more.
Points range from 150-300 pts.
There are armies 7 main in infinity:
PanOceania-high tech, lots of heavy infantry and mechs
YuJing-more fast hard hitting units, also good tech, ninjas and lots of light infantry
Haqqislam-medics, lots of bio-weapons, low number of heavy infantry and mechs
Nomads-hacking army- lotsa weird tech options
Aleph-super elite army, think grey knights of infinity
Combined army-alien army #1, lots of cloaking, also elite
Tohaa-aliens #2. Lots of strange weapons, think tau. Symbiote armor, and subservient races.
Ariadna-no tech at all, shotguns, rockets and testicles. Loads of light infantry
Mercs-models u can add to your armies.
Big thing about infinity- it's not your list, it's you. Doesn't hugely matter what units u take (the game balance is extremely well done) but how you synergize them together.

PanO are the best at shooting as well, bs 15 and access to multi-spectral visors 1-3 mean panO are gonna dominate the long range firefights.

Re: infinity
I'm in line to pick up some Yu jing.
Once I figure out what it means exactly and how rules differ, the Japanese Sectorial army really appeal to me, and might focus on that.
Is 40K terrain usable for Infinity? Models seem close to same size.

Re: infinity
Matt- sectorial a are basically there to let you take more of a set type of units, and link teams.
Yujing is quite a diverse army, best to try out a few units before getting into a sectorial. Sectorials allow link teams, an advanced rule that lets you spend orders on multiple models at once, who also give each member of the squad upgrades.
Japsec is all about mass troops, crazy good cc, and a bawsss TAG, the o-yoroi.
Terrain: 40k is good, infinity is 28mm, compared to 40k's heroic scale 28mm (means infinity is more realistic)

Re: infinity
Yeah, team games are actually quite easy, as the order pool splits after ten models, meaning you can run multiple armies together.
We haven't tried any allies yet, so I'm not sure how different forces work together, or if there are any cheesy combos to look out for.
The only problem I see with multiplayer infinity is the slowdown based on number of units.
Because of the action/reaction and ARO system, the active player, if he is facing like 20 combatants, is gonna get mowed down as soon as he leaves cover.
So a good team game would have to be 150 pts max per team member.

Re: infinity
Also, for anyone looking to buy minis, here's a few tips. You can take almost any figs, but some specialists can help you out.
Aggressive fast: anything with a chain rifle (think shrapnel flamethrower). They are always super cheap points wise (most wont survive return fire to get close enough) but can take out even the toughest targets.
Example: 2 of my hungries (basically aliens/Tyranids w/ chain rifle) sped up the table feat turn, using their insane mov of 6/6 to run from cover to cover. They both bust around a corner, and chain rifle Ian's aleph link team. Both got annihilated by aro's, but I toll out 2 of the link members, an took his luitenant down to his last wound. And hungries are 5 points. 5!
Hacker/engineer: these guys are great for unlocking doors, disabling heavy infantry and TAGs, repairing shit, and are required for the paradiso campaign. Always a good purchase.
Combi-kids: basic troopers with combo rifles. Your cheerleaders, or link team members. Usually 12-18 pts.
Heavy support: rocket launcher/missiles/seekers/snipers/katyusha etc.
Always good to have a big boy!
Tough as nails: heavy infantry tags: these guys can rip through the enemy, shrugging off small arms fire. Expensive to take, and risky, as hackers and guided missiles wreck their day. But coolest models!
Deep strike!: infinity has a more realistic deep strike move, calle AD:drop. You drop a guy behind the enemy lines, with a hmg, and... Well I can say from personal experience you can lose half your army in one turn!
Hmg: u want these. U need them. They are retard useful guns. Dayum, go get one!
Other stuff: lots of other weird stuff, like g:servants, cloaking, mine layers, forward observers, infiltrate, disguises, but the above is a good starter.
Most armies have a luitenant option, but because so many troops can be a secret luitenant, best not to use the ones ppl will guess first
All rules and army lists are available online too, for free !!!! (Suck it GW)

Re: infinity
Sorry for all the questions lol, is there some converting to be done with some models? Looking at the forces and at the store noticing some builds of units don't exist...
Edit: loving the tips your giving on starting the game.

Re: infinity
No probs! Ian and I had to learn the hard way, so it should be easier for everyone else.
Infinity (Corvus belli being the company) releases figs for each army, every month! So no more waiting for your whole army for years. It does mean there are almost always figs not released, but with the plethora of unts to choose from, I haven't found a reason to do more than one or two conversions.
We ordered all our minis from the den, just write a list of what you want, and Darren or al can get it to you. Newer figs take a month or two, older a few weeks (Corvus belli is in Spain after all).
One of my favorite aspects of infinity is the its (international tournament system)
Corvus has a int. rating system, so you can see where you place around the world, and allows small gaming groups to run officially endorsed tournaments with actual prizes from Corvus belli!!
Another player aid.
A good way to figure out your army, is, after reading the rules, use the infinity army creator, an insanely cool free army builder Corvus provides on the infinity site.
Things to know about list building:
150-300 pts is your best range, tho we played some 100 or games early on.
For erry 50 pts of figs, you can spend 1 swc (special weapon choice). So at 300, you get 6 swc.
These are extra costs for things like hmg's, m/r launchers, leuitenants, hackers etc.
You must have a luitenant. Most unit types have a luitenant option. During tr game, you wanna keep this secret, for if your luitenant gets ganked, u lose a turn regrouping.
More orders is better! You get an order a fig, so a ten man force is gonna have more board control than a huge TAG and a few cheerleaders.
Sectorials: stay away from sectorial building till you have the rules down, link teams can be complicated to play.

Re: infinity
The ITS
You just play little games with your friends and report games? Or do you still need to make an official local tournament and do it that way
I'm going to avoid sectorial for now at your suggestion. Once game and rules make more sense I may try a Japanese sectorial.
How do snipers function and compare to missiles/rockets

Re: infinity
Matt- snipers have best range modifiers, so are good at hitting stuff, and the shot will usually be very powerful. But can only hit one guy, and has trouble against heavier armor.
Rockets have splash damage, and light stuff on fire. FIRE BAD :p rockets are short-medium range
Missiles have splash damage, and penetrate armor very well.- missiles are log range.
If you can think of a cool present day gun, infirm has it, anti-tank rifles, katyusha rockets, shotguns, even crazy sci-fi stuff like viral rifles and plasma rifles, and the insane combined army special weapons, the sepsitor viral attack (combined ai constructs can basically zombify and control any enemy that has a cube, a memory recording device for resurrection)

Ian and I are in pairing mode, we are gearing up to run some demos soon.
I'm using the color scheme for Eva 01 from evangelion for my combined. It's working so far!
Def. gonna have to invest in a good Matt finish sealer, metal figs chipping so easily and such.

I'm fairly sure Paz meant "painting mode" not "pairing mode" we're already paired after all.
