Dark Talon/Nephilim Jetfighter review
Picked this up Thursday, and threw it together tonight. A few quick notes.
I built mine as a Nephilim but used most of the dark Talon bitz, just replacing the weaponry.
I magnetized the main gun so I can switch between the LasC and Avenger. I was thinking of magnetizing the whole thing.... but the hurricane bolters/blackswords would be a pain. I'm not seeing a good way to mag those. the heavy bolters could be mag'd easily, once I'd decided to keep in a Nephilim there was no use in magnetizing.
If you mag the main gun, it will be the first thing you do.
The kit goes together super easy. The jet engines and cockpit are molded together and form the basis for everything else. Everything fits exactly, no rhino top peices or Landspeeder clamshells here! The joins are also located to they are difficult to spot exactly where.
It would also be quite easy to convert this to a Storm Talon with nothing more than a RW upgrade sprue.
Ben, if you are planning on trimming the bottom fin from the tail, I'd build the whole tail first.

My plan is simply take my razor saw to the lower fin and go to work

Against a AV10/11 flyer field, I'd be tempted to take the Heavy 5, S6 AP4 gun, against AV12, the lascannon is the way to go. (Hitting on 3 twin-linked, glancing on 3, +1 to results generally yields some sort of result, potentially suppressing the flyer for a turn).
That reminds me, Robyn, Heldrakes have daemonic possession, so don't forget your 2+ save against shaken & stunned results (so you can keep firing your baleflamer)
