Interrogator Chaplain Seraphicus

From the FAQ:

"Q: How many points is Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus, from the
special edition Dark Vengeance boxed game?
A: 125 points. Seraphicus is an HQ choice in a Dark Angels
army, and a special character. He is an Interrogator-Chaplain
armed with a plasma pistol, as listed in Codex: Dark Angels. He
replaces the Interrogator-Chaplain’s Zealot special rule with his
own Litanies of the Dark Angels special rule."

Zealot grants Fearless and Hatred (reroll misses in the first round)
He's still Fearless (from Inner Circle, which also grant Prefered Enemy (CSM))
A reading of Litanies of the Dark Angels will show that it is simply Prefered Enemy (CSM).....

Seraphicus trades his Hatred for a Special Rule he already has....

A Interrogator Chaplain w/ Plasma Pistol has everything he does, PLUS Hatred.... for the same number of points.....
Seriously, we get a section in the FAQ for this??

he doesnt grant hatred, he grants reroll 1s to hit and wound vs chaos space marines to his squad. shooting and close combat. plus he is init 5.
so vs chaos marines he grants prefered enemy, not hatred.

What I'm saying is take an int chaplain w/ PP. Same points. And you get Fearless, Hatred, and Preferred enemy rather than fearless and preferred enemy. Statline is identical.

Prolly only got faq because enough people kept asking what his point cost was in case they wanted to keep playing him as portrayed in the starter kit. Tough it's better to ate him as a generic iChap cause at least you can upgrade his croziers to a mace of redemption and really eff up enemy models. Your wielding basically a lite thumberhammer that strikes at initiative, unless concussive happens to force you to strike at initiative 1, but I think only unwieldy does that

I'm guessing people were hoping he'd cost less than a 125pt iChap and therefore be worth considering as a good cheap HQ, but now they see a normal iChap costs the same and has better special rules.

think the entire thing is a moot point. i've seen at least 100 different lists since the DA book dropped and not a single one of them included a Chaplin...interogator or otherwise. The FoC swap abilities of the various special characters, and the cheapness of the librarian basically relegate chaplains to a third stringer at best. ... not that this is new, even in 5th edition, i saw a chaplin (of any flavour of marine) hit the table like once in an entire year.

Thiessen might play his a couple of times, but I can't find space in a competitive list for him. There's other fish to fry.

We're at what, 6 months in for 6th? and how long is the BRB faq?

On the plus side, they're answering a lot of the "stupid questions" newer gamers ask that tend to hold up a game cause they don't believe your when you say they read the rule description wrong. I'd rather they answer a lot and get even the dumber questions out of the way rather than not answer anything
