Objectively Speaking
Lordy, did that bag of bits spawn projects! I figured rather than starting up a new thread for each project that doesn't directly link into an army I play, I can just house them all here. One-ofs make great objective markers, after all! Also, if I end up working on something for someone else, like Matty's Nurgle Rhino in the near future, those can live here, too.
First up to bat is Cuthbert, the Dark Angel's Vet! He's still a work in progress, but he's let me experiment with that new line of dry brush "pastes" that Citadel put out.
I haven't washed anything yet, and I still need to do all the metallics on him (gold on skulls, silver on rivets, lead beltcher on pistol grips). The flash on that second picture, I find, really helps me see where I need to touch up that red a scootch more.

Re: Objectively Speaking
Busy busy busy time at work this week. Rather sucks to be in retail this time of year. But you know what? I don't work until 3 this after noon! Sounds like me slamming out some work on my Deep One Plague Marine project!
Haven't gotten around to putting any paint on the plasma gun yet. To think all this was triggered by me finding a single Feeder Tendril head in my bits bag.
The plan is to heavily dry brush rust all the armor and then nail everything with a blue-green wash for deep sea shadows.
I'm really liking this wash intensive approach I picked up from that Mini War Gaming site in their free vault week. I'm also starting to get used to the dry brush gels from the Citadel line.

Gun and rust effect are done now, just waiting on the Green Stuff for the "neck" to cure currently, and then I can finish this bugger off tomorrow. After the head goes on, all that remains is a wash of green, cleaning up the edge of the base, and sealing the bugger!

Annnnnd done. I was going to seal it using Reaper brush on sealer, but it started taking the wash off. I'll just have to grab a can of Purity Seal next time I'm down at the Den, me thinks.

Matty has finally gotten around to giving me those rhinos he wanted to putz around with and nurgle up for him. Here's the start of the first one.
It's missing a bit of tread on the right side, but I'm using instant mold to make a replacement bit. I know I want to do something with the driver hatches, but I haven't decided what yet.

Finally getting around to painting these rhinos up in earnest. The three tone camo pattern looks way better in person than in the photos.
Also, the gunners I built. One is just manning the "combi-bolter", and the other mutant gunner is manning two "combi-bolters" and his "havok launcher", for when you really want to pump points into a rhino.

I seem to be in the middle of a modeling bltiz right now for some reason, so I might as well get as much out of it while it lasts. Doing some work on a Dactylus today, as some bits finally showed up in the mail. Aaron had ripped apart one of his Carnifexes a number of months ago for me to re-purpose into a Dactylus based on a conversion someone else did. Looking at the stat line and the potential for a kit release with a new codex potentially hitting in November, I decided it should be bigger and awesomer than the other kit bash random internet dude did. So, this is what I have so far.
Haven't applied any of the forward limbs yet. General feel I'm going for is rather than having a dedicated cannon biomorph, it simply projectile vomits it's payload towards the target. I need to wait for the green stuff to dry and set before I do much else with it.
