Re: Daemon Hunting
Well, you see, I noticed that we sell Twin-Linked Auto Cannon arms at work a while back, for a touch less than buying the resin online, and sans the two week wait.
I plan on using the storage "cartridge" he came with as vehicle debris for basing. By the by, is anyone in a market for a Batman action figure?

Trim out the cooling jacket, then trim the barrel to length.

Is this what you meant?

I suppose I could always take the left over cooling jacket and use it to extend the exhaust stacks on the back for cool points.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Got some work going on the Chimera I bought with my tourney winnings. Green seems way brighter in the photo than when it's in my hand. Still need to jazz up the treads, cover up the bits where it connected to the frame, and give the whole shebang a wash.

I think it is pretty much done now. Treads dry-brushed and mud washed, cloth put onto the Heavy Bolter, mud splattered all along the bottom, and an Earthshade wash across everything.

Some side shots that Aeg requested. The lighting at my work station just does not seem to like me taking pictures of the side of this APC.

Cold and blustery out today, so a good day to do a touch of free hand on the Rhinos.

Re: Daemon Hunting
While I should be working on the Land Raider and Strike Squad for the coming tourney, I find myself instead working on one of about five side projects (only two of which apply to armies I play, curse you bag-o-bits!), one of which happens to be this one. Jed lovingly refers to it as the Treadnought.
I refuse to leave AoBR Dreads alone!

I suppose I should get back to working on things for armies I run, shouldn't I? Finally getting some work done on my Crusaders. Trying to do them entirely through dry brushing and washes.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Bit of a Green Stuff blitz tonight, so I got some AoBR Termies converted into a 5 man GK Termie squad with 5 Daemon Hammers and a "Psylencer". Now I think I just need to give the other five halberds.

Re: Daemon Hunting
My boxes of Shock Troopers (aka: cthulhu head delivery system) showed up today around noonish. Feeling like crap, though, I have thus far only assembled 5 of the 6 Flamer Warrior Acolytes. With any luck I'll be feeling better tomorrow and be able to start on the batches of Plasma and Melta Acolytes.
I am going to need to figure out something with the basing to deal with those slot gaps, as most of these guys don't have a wide enough stance to cover it up on their own.

Re: Daemon Hunting
bag of 30 bases is to be had for not very many dollahs. might be easier and better looking to just buy new bases than to try to green stuff them all. if you do still go the green stuff route, miliput is probably better for that purpose and cheaper.

Re: Daemon Hunting
I wasn't really thinking about Green Stuff for the bases, and last time I was at the den I could only find the 80 bag of slotted, which is what I grabbed.

Starting to figure out how to integrate non-kit weapons onto these guys, starting to see why most of their guns have the grip on top of the weapon. I am thinking I might give one or two of them Augmetic arms for the heck of it.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Got my Melta crew up and running now. It seems that all it took for them not to hold the guns stupid was a bit of Green Stuff in the wrist.
Also, my augmetic arm plasma vet.

Slapping some paint down quick to get these guys ready for the tourney. I can finish prettying them up afterwards. Two in the back were ones already done, for comparison.
Also, a close up of my Augmetic Plasma Vet.
I like how my iPod camera makes spots I missed blazingly obvious. Makes it easier to come back and fix them.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Project Dread Talon needed some more love. After some consideration, I have come to the conclusion that while a Venerable Dreadnought would be cool and all, I'd never actually field one. A second Dread Knight, on the other hand, I'd totally field that! I figure some deluxe basing would help get the model up to the requisite height, where it's already good on depth, and PLENTY good on width already.
Also, some dynamic daemon cleaving action.

Re: Daemon Hunting
You know what this thread needs more of? Chimeras.
Finally busting out the good air brush again after it got back, and I'm take a stab at some of the fancier stuff like masking. I'll have to touch up some little spots near where all those silly rivets met the tape, but aside from that I think it turned out well. Now I just need to remask both sides in the entirety of where I want to keep the stripes so I can base coat everything else.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Gentlemen, I give you ToonCon 3 color minimum!
I'm guessing it's going to finish closer to 5 or 6 colors when I'm done, but totally fieldable right now.

That hazard pattern actually turned out really well. When you posted the first picture I was skeptical.

Re: Daemon Hunting
Yeah, it just needed something to contrast against, and all the splash and excess from the initial application denied it that. Still need to go in and clean it up, though.
