Purging the daemon
So I ended up hopping on the Grey Knight bandwagon. What can I say, the wagon was all shiny and stuff, I'm only human. Stop judging me!
Anyways, thought I'd show off what I have so far, see what folks figure, if I can make any tweaks or anything.
Here's the list I'm shooting for to start with:
HQ:
Librarian w/ MC nemesis stave, stormbolter, digital weapons 210
Hammerhand, Sanctuary, Summoning, Shrouding
TROOPS:
Grey Knight Terminator Squad x5 210
Justicar w/ MC Hammer (Now stop. Hammertime.)
2 Halberds, 2 Swords, Incinerator
Grey Knight Strike Squad x6 145
Justicar w/ MC Hammer
psycannon, 4 Swords
Psycannon Razorback 85
2 more of the above
Stormraven Gunship 205
TL multimelta + TL lascannon
Dreadnought 130
Psycannon (Assault Cannon w/psybolts) + Doomfist w/ SB
Dreadnought 135
2 TL Autocannons w/psybolts
Dreadknight 160
2 doomfists, heavy incinerator
1740 points
And now some pictures:

Re: Purging the daemon
Hey, good start. Youve made more progress than me so far, which is pretty much 0. Well, I did open the boxes of a few things and put together 5 grey knights.. but thats it.
Looks like a nice list to me, lots of grey knights running and a storm raven and dreadknight to have fun with. Themodels are coming along great. Were they fast to paint?
I wonder though.. who the hell is going to ever take a psilencer in their units.. ?
My working list isnt that far from yours.. I should start up a thread as well.. I need al the help I can get.. argh.

Hey the models are looking great. I also had a great start on my models, but then seeding started and the gone by 6 and home by 10 days started... So ya i think i might commission some models out. If you want better detail on the swords start with a dark blue like Regal Blue and work your way to lighter colours. Don't be scared to leave some of the sword just plan regal blue. Also dry brush the edges skull white. The results are AWESOME. Also great detail on the amour. Keep it up

Re: Purging the daemon
Thanks guys!
@ SC: turns out they are fairly easy to paint. The armor is just a coat of krylon chrome, followed by devlan mud, with a light drybrushing of mythril silver to bring out the edges. I agree on the psilencers. I WANT to take some, cause they look awesome. Problem is their stats. On any power armor squad, you can't move and shoot. And if you're not moving your knights every turn, you're doing it wrong as far as I'm concerned. I thought 4 psilencers in a purgation squad would be fun, but then 4 incinerators would be even more fun, and cheaper! And on the terminators, a psilencer just dosen't seem all that impressive next to a psycannon always firing the 4 shots.
I put on a little more highlighting on this blade, hopefully it turned out better. I'm going to pull the classic excuse and say it looks better IRL than in the pics
And my recently finished terminator:

Re: Purging the daemon
Wow, the only Krylon I ever had luck with was the matte black made specifically for plastics. Looks pretty badass too. How much did you have to monkey with it to get the arms in that position? <Roland glances at the whole 3 poses his OLD METAL Grey Knights have, and mutters under his breath>
Incidently how much was that a can, just for reference compares to the Army Painter Plate Mail. Also if you are looking for a bit lighter for Purifiers, Krylon makes a Silver that comes out loking like a cross between Chain Mail and Mithril Silver.
What's the point diff if you take those trike squads to 6man (MC Hammer, 3 Swords, 2 Psy) and put them in a Rhino? The Psycannons could still shoot out the top, and it might save enough points to put some more guys in. Oh wait you need 10 men to get 2 PSycannon.... I get 270-280/sqd? Or One as Purifiers (identical build) in a Rhno would be 209+MC cost (5 or 10 pts?)
Just throwing some ideas out there.

Re: Purging the daemon
The krylon chrome is a little can of touch up paint for like 4 bucks. I also picked up a can of krylon brushed metal in nickel which is also pretty close and paints up fine. That was like 8-9 dollars I think. On these Grey Knights, I am deliberately going for a slightly darker, a little bit sinister sort of look, as the codex suggests.
@Roland: Having played Deathwing for a long time, I have learned to not look down on the stormbolter. Personally for me, if the Knights aren't moving and shooting those SBs almost every turn, you're doing something a little bit wrong. Firing 4-8 combined psycannon shots from a rhino hatch for ~250 points just seems like a poor investment to me. For this list, I'm using the RBs to get from point A to point B, and then screening and harrasment and antitank with the TL psycannons. What might work well would be to take 10 men, combat squad them, and put the justicar and 4 halberd guys in a transport to move forward aggressively, while the other 5 with 2 psycannons moves alongside the transport providing covering fire, then hold position and really blast away.

Re: Purging the daemon
I had initially did my guys Grey because I thought it'd be neat to go against the standard, but you know.. I love painting metallics now though.. so am really wishing I had gone with a metallic look.
Instead, now I have to paint everything grey.. argh!!
Oh well, I suppose it makes them a bit unique being a different colour.
The guys are looking good, and especially since your using a metallic base.. thats awesome.

Re: Purging the daemon
Spamus: I definately agree about the SB, but in my mind a psycannon is simply a S7 Rending stormbolter. If you are standing still with it, you're doing something wrong. My line of thinking is its only +40pts or so for more bodies in the squad (and more SB shots when you disembark) and basically the same firepower moving. Thats said with the RB when you disembark you have an extra 4 Psy shots to go with so I can see it both ways.
Basically, what I have played with my GK, I find you are consistantly surprised by how much firepower they throw down, particualrly Termies. But they die just like any other marine, and have major issues with AV 12+ and anything more than 30" away. Transports are definately a must.
SC: I've seen some non-metallic GK in both grey and black (and one that was grey and red), and it's actually a refreshing take. Weren't they black when they first came out, back in Index Astartes and whatnot?

Re: Purging the daemon
And here's my librarian!
This will be it for pictures for a little while, I want to focus on getting a squad done and finished instead of pictures of each individual guy

Re: Purging the daemon
He's done! After much MacGuyvering, I got my Dreadknight finished!
I can't stand the baby-carrier pilot, so that had to go. The arms and waist are magnetized, with the arms using a countersunk magnet and a ballbearing to allow full movement. Hopefully people like it!
