grenades!
these got to be more interesting, it looks like.
so we all know marines are considered to have both assault and defensive grenades. here's how they work now:
assault grenades
in the shooting phase, 1 model per squad can choose to use his frag grenades instead of his gun, doing an 8" range, Str 3, AP -, assault 1, 3" blast attack. pretty handy when you're gonna be up close to mobs.
assault grenades still let you assault into cover without being reduced to Init 1.
defensive grenades:
if you're being shot at, and have defensive grenades, then so long as the dudes shooting at you are within 8" of you, and you havent gone to ground, you count as having Stealth. this means in open ground, you have a 6+ cover save, and when 'in' cover, your cover save is +1 better than it would otherwise be.
Krak grenades:
in the shooting phase, 1 model per squad can choose to use his krak grenades instead of his gun, doing an 8" range, Str 6, AP 4, assault 1 attack. and if your assaulting a vehicle or an MC, all your dudes can use their grenades to do a Str 6, AP 4 attack each.
Melta bombs give you a Str 8, AP 1 attack, that gets 2D6 pen on armor via Armorbane, but these now strike at Init 1. note it uses Armorbane, not Melta rules. so Ceramite Plating's ability to negate melta does 'not' prevent 2D6 penetration rolls on Melta Bombs.

Re: grenades!
I can kinda see why they did the melta bombs that way, because what is half range of melee?

Re: grenades!
you know who else has defensive grenades and..... hive? Typhus... and Typhus' hive lets him charge through terrain and not suffer the init penalties for doing so!... with his power axe.

Re: grenades!
Typhus doesn't have a power axe...it's a power weapon with special properties so is Ap3, strike at I, etc.

They faq'd it to be both a daemon weapon and a force axe.

Re: grenades!
I discovered in a recent game that IG sergeants can now do a little more when shooting at close range. Instead of firing their laspistol, they are way better off tossing a frag.
