display board - finished
here's the WIP shots of a display board i'm making. i still need to make counter-sunk holes for the models on the cliffs, then i can start painting and sanding and painting it some more.

Its looking pretty good so far its coming along fast. Not to many people do display boards these days. It will make your army stand out at tournaments and that means more points on your painting scores for sure.

i've countersunk all the spots deep enough you have to hit it pretty hard to knock the models off; i tested it by grabbing it and shaking it side to side a little harder than what someone might bump into it at the den, and nothing budged. so yay.

Re: display board - finished
Finished last night; in person i cant tell the difference between my basing sand on my minis, and the sand on the display, though the pics show a slight difference when the flash was used. so if i add to it, it'll just be some drybrushed greys on the cliff face

Like the shape of it. Colour looks a little plain. Throw a couple scraggly trees or a lava river on there to break up the monotony.

....but the board is supposed to look like a deathworld that's covered in a desert made of black irradiated sands; why would there be trees and lava??? not to mention there's no where for said lava as you wouldnt drive a tank over that, and there isnt enough room on the board for anything more than 1, maybe 2 trees. and deserts dont have trees.

You can still try to break it up. Add some colour to it. Tim's point is a good one. You need to add some colour to it.

Definately drybrush the cliffs, and maybe a bit more.
I agree, lava fields or trees maybe a bit late or not appropriate, but you can add some larger rocks/slate/pine chips painted grey to break it up some.
a few grass tufts made to look like tough scragly desert veg would be easy as well.
Overall looks great, stuff like thats an easy add.

we'll see if i feel like adding to it. i did contemplate a grey drybrush on the cliffsides. but since theyre supposed to be sand cliffs, if i add grey to them, i have to hightlight alllllll that sand too.
besides, we're trying to make candice a display as well for her army, so mine can wait for now.
