Team Tournament 2: Saskatoon Showdown Empty Team Tournament 2: Saskatoon Showdown

Post  Roland Sun Aug 21, 2011 10:55 pm

Here is the revised tournament format:

1500 POINT TEAM TOURNAMENT

OVERVIEW
• Over the course of the day your team will play a total of 6 games, over three rounds. Each round you will pair up with a different teammate to take on another teams pairing. You may not play with the same teammate twice. You are free to decide which pairings play together in a given round, but keep in mind that pair cannot play together again.
• Ex. Andy, Bob, Chuck and Dave form a team. In the first round Andy and Chuck form one team and Bob and Dave play another. In round two they see they are playing against a tough opponent in one game and have Dave and Chuck (their best two players) play that game, while Andy and Bob play the other. In the last round Andy and Dave must pair up and Bob and Chuck must as well.
• There are no rules for allies and such, so anything goes. Grey Knight can align with Daemons, Tyranids and Necrons, for example. That said; it would look better if there was a common theme thru the teams (identical basing, common accent color, etc.) Each players force is considered a separate detachment and fully separate from their teammates army. As such they may not ride in teammates transports, have Team A’s IC join a Team B squad, or have any of the armies special rules apply to them, such as gaining FNP from being in range of your teammates Sanguinary Priest.
• For purposes of declaring attacks, assaults, etc. a TEAM as a whole should declare assaults, shooting attacks, and the like, as if they were a single player. (For example, both players must declare all assaults before actually resolving any; IG players must issue orders before their teammate shoots, etc.)

MODELS/PAINTING
• All models should be WYSIWYG, and be painted to tournament standard (3 colour minimum and (at minimum) a painted base. I am willing to allow some leniency on WYSIWYG, but let's not get crazy folks.
• “Counts-as” armies are fine, as long as units are readily identifiable as the unit they are intended to represent.

RULES
• The tournament will begin on Saturday, Nov 12th at 10:00 AM at Dragon’s Den.
• Teams will consist of 4 players, each with a separate army, chosen from any codices. Teams should submit their team name, members and an army list for each army at least two week before the tournament. $100/team. Prizes have been expanded, and this includes pizza and pop for lunch.
• Armies will consist of 750 points using the following force organization chart
o 1 Headquarters
o 2-3 Troops
o 0-1 Elite
o 0-1 Fast Attack
o 0-1 Heavy Support
o Any choices that don’t take up a place in the Force Organization chart are to be used as per their rules in their respective codices, and are not affected by the restrictions stated above for other types of choice (Space Marine Command Squads, CSM Chaos Spawn and Summoned Daemons etc.)
• Forge World/Imperial Armour units and rules may be used (so you can play a Renegades and Heretics army, or use a Repressor in your SoB, for example), provided an appropriate models is used (i.e. either an actual FW model, or a suitable conversion).
• All GW FAQ’s apply.
• Special/Unique/Named characters may be used, provided their rules allow them to be used in armies of 1500 points or less.
• Each round you will play a different team and pair up with a different team member.
• Please try to provide your own rulebook, codex, dice, templates, pen/pencil, calculator, laptop, alter to the Dark Gods, or whatever you feel you need during the course of play. Spares may or may not be available, and are not guaranteed to NOT be cursed.
• Please provide an army list to the judges beforehand (at least a week prior to the tournament). All players will be provided with an Army Builder printout for themselves and all opponents.
• In order for the tournament to keep on schedule, all players should drop their dice and stop playing when time is called- no exceptions. Please be aware of the time you have left and do not start a round you cannot finish. A warning will be provided at 15 and 5 minutes remaining. NO game turn should be started after the first warning period.
• Any illegal units/rules violations/general douche-bagginess will result in punishment up to and including the following:
o Removal of offending models or units.
o Removal of offending shirt or articles of clothing.
o Removal of offending douche bags.

SCORING
• Battle points (50%): 120 total points per team. 20 points per game.
• Sportsmanship (25%): 60 total points, 10 points per game, player scored.
• Appearance/Painting/Theme (25%): 40 total points for painting, 20 for overall theme. judge scored
• Total possible points: 240

BATTLE POINTS
Battle points will be awarded on a sliding scale with up to 20 points available per round. Please see the mission list for particulars

SPORTSMANSHIP
Each round, each team will evaluate their opposing team on a 1-10 scale using the provided checklist on their score sheet.

APPEARANCE/PAINTING
Before play begins, each team’s entire army will be judged according to the checklist by event staff. Additionally, your overall force will be judged on overall theme. For instance, a strongly themed force such as a Grey Knights/Guard/Necron (counts as Machine Cult)/Sisters or Daemons/Blood Angels (counts as World Eaters)/Traitor Guard/Space Wolves (counts as Black Legion) would score well, especially if they have paint jobs or conversions to tie them together. A Chaos Marine/Ultramarine/Necron/Tyranid force would not score as well.

AWARDS
4-Teams 5-Teams 6-Teams 7-Teams
Best Overall $20.00 $40.00 $45.00 $50.00

So you are requiring a full painted army for the teams? good job. I like that. Anyway, I like the team games. I'm excited.

Were you thinking 750 points per player again?

@ Greg: Just a 3 color min. I think I'm giving enough notice people should be able to get them done.

@ Tim: Yep, 750 pts again, I thought it worked pretty well.

Was that a Mr. Burns "Excellent...." with steepled fingers, or a Bill and Ted "EXCELLANT!!!! *guitar shredding*? Either is acceptable, I'm just curious.

It was a Sean Connery "Exshellent" actually, if we want to get technical on the details.

LW: Last time FOC was 1 HQ, 1-3 T, 0-1 everything else. That's being modified to 2-3 T. I'll have the whole list up later, including missions and how scoring and everything works.

The other main change is the entry fee. I'm raising it to account for more prizes to give out (tentatively 5 team prizes and 2-3 individual) and the entry fee will include food (I was gonna order in pizza from Panago. I've asked Darren about this before, and his only request is we be careful and pick up any messes). I'm still decided how much.

Hey paz, should we re-enter out team from the last one? I haven't decided yet but I may either bring angels or knights this time.

Sounds awesome!

Question about the date though. November 13th is a Sunday. Is it a mistake on the day or the date?

The date. I corrected the lead post to show this.

I'll have a sign-up sheet at the den by this weekend, and flyers will (hopefully) be up soon after. If anyone want to play, but can't get a team together, email me @ suttobs@yahoo.com or PM on the forum, and I'll put together additional teams as needed. If you played last time and your team is coming back, let me know.

Again, if there any questions, post them here, or via email or PM.

Thanks
Beau

The Perils of the Warp would love to attend again, but as we're from the city that smells like it spells, it will be hard to sign up at the Dragons Den in person. Any chance you could help us out there Roland? Jody won't be able to make this time but we have our battle brother Stephen committed to our combat squad this time.

Yep no problem, we can handle it same as last time. Just PM or email me at suttobs@yahoo.com with the players, their armies, and (if you have them already) the lists. Assuming the same nickname? Note a few of the guidelines have been changes as far as list building.

Edit: I was also under the impression it was "Rhymes with fun...." but I suppose that works too.

Oh yeah, we're still the Perils of Warp. Why fix something that isn't broke I say.

Yeah, rhymes with fun, smells like it spells, we have numerous tag lines for our beloved city.

Looking forward to another good time! You guys were a blast to play with. Hoping to see some familiar faces from last time. Very Happy

I have 4 players who can most likely play

Adam(me) with Chaos Space Marines
Tom with either CSM or Grey Knights
Matty with Orks
Jed with Blood Angels

We need to figure out if everyone can get the day off from work, but if people can then we are in.
