I've been playing a lot of xenos and daemon armies lately, so I felt it was about time to get back to some good old Astartes action.

With the release of the red wake and the condemptor dread from ForgeWorld, I finally knew what chapter I wanted to play, the Carcharodons Astra, or Space sharks.

I love scenic bases, and the description in the Badab war part II, of the Sharks massacring the Mantis Warriors, sounded like something I wanted to reproduce.

Tyberos, about deliver the coup de grâce to a separatist Mantis warrior.



I like The Red Wake's helmet, but I think his victim's last sight should be Tyberos' pale face, black eyes, and sharpened teeth. Head is made from a marauder horseman head and the mouth from a possessed marine head.




Not all the bases will have mantis warriors on them, just the big ones.



The Condemptor. How cool is this Dread? Super poseable, and I magnetized the right arm for many diff. weapons options.

The kit is highly detailed



And so it begins! I will be running lots of Terminators, scouts, land speeder storms, and assault marines in this force, using vanilla marine codex with Tyberos chapter tactics.

As usual, I'm flaggergasted.

As a note, you don't have to go Vanilla. IA9 even recommend using them as "counts-as" Wolves.

You could out-Kerr Matt's Word Bearers.

he's humpty who got pissed, upgraded to ceramite for his shell and started kicking ass and blowing up walls for a living.

So I had some free time this long weekend, knuckled down, and got some base coating done!


The army as it stands, first base coat, still lots to do. The recent addition of scouts helps.




These ironically were scouts I had started painting as Astral Claws, just before the badab books came out, based on BoLS' AC color scheme ( a sand yellow with tiger stripe patterns). Now they serve the loyalists!




I was worried Tyberos would have too cluttered of a base with the prone Mantis Warrior, but I think once he is in a big meaty squad of terminators, itll look better as a centrepiece model.




This model gets sexier the more time I spend painting it. After seeing the super condemptor with 2 gats and some missiles, I may need a couple...

I magnetized the arm just above the elbow, where it meets the shoulder. After seeing that heavy conversion beamer and plasma cannon, I'm glad I did!

Roland- I was torn between a wolf wing counts as, but Tyberos' rules are really pretty low key, not very overpowered, and I wants me a fleet of Land speeder storms. We'll see tho, I had 2 cool ideas

wolves: lone wolf could be an assassin termie. All dark, covered in blades, a real badass, with some quick moving human servitors as wolves

vanilla: a legion of the damned squad, but a M32 old tech armor, special, that has the condemptor's shielding built in, hence the 3++ inv. save, all streamlined, something the sharks use to kill off the leadership of the enemy.

It's true. My ironclad is the only one I've ever seen whose seismic hammer looks like a hammer though. So he's got that going for him.

WOW Paz totally groovy man. Awesome job on the HQ and scouts. Great detail on the Heavy Bolter on the dreadnought. Whole army thus far just looks nasty. Great job

Nice stuff but there isn't any focal point on the mini's. I know they're WIP shots, but are you plannign on adding any colour to the heads of the mini's? Onthe bases that have them the green and yellow marines are the bits that pop out.

The black eyes maybe done with a gem effect? I know it defeats the dead black eyes idear though.
