Is anyone going to get it?
And by the way, what is the armour save on carapace armour for veteran squads?
I've been having trouble finding it in my codex and my rule book.

I will likely get Space Marine. Carapace armour provides a 4+ armour save. It should never be taken for any IG unit except perhaps a Straken company command squad. That's your one unit you can tool up for combat and won't completely embarass itself.

Re: warhammer space marine
Why would you ever choose to make your veteran squads 30 points more expensive? The carapace and snare mines options are completely useless and should never even be considered. Full stop. The demo charge/melta bombs upgrade could have its use as an alpha-striking unit out of a flyer a la suicide scouts, but that's it. Let's not confuse the youngster please. He's looking for good advice, not confusing anecdotes about how this worked for me once against this particular army. IG needs to skimp on upgrades and put as much killy stuff on the table as possible to be done well.
Edit: I'll add an IMHO

Thats an impulse you have to ignore as an Imperial Guard player. You absolutely cannot get attached to anything in your army. Everything is there to shoot and damage/kill an enemy unit. If it does that then it has contributed to your cause. You need to maximize your firepower so every shooting phase there is less and less stuff coming back at you. If you put carapace armour on two veteran squads that is 3 less heavy weapon teams you could have had destroying enemy transports every turn. You know how they say, "The best defence is a good offence."? That phrase was never more true than when applied to IG. Incidentally, what is a veteran's save when he is in cover, like say a smouldering crater left by an exploded chimera or vendetta? Oh, it's 4+? Hmmm. I didn't pay any points for that save thank you very much.

Holy crap Dom! A capital letter and an apostrophe! Well done lad. We'll make an English major out of you yet. So are you saying you don't have enough models so you need to fill points with upgrades? I would advise against that sort of thinking. Just play smaller games and keep your units lean. If you pile on questionable filler upgrades like BS3 hunter-killer missiles, carapace armour, etc. you will have a bloated, inefficient mess. Stick to your budget and add a formation or tank whenever you can afford to. IG are by far the most expensive army to play, you knew that going in right?

The blackreach set cut back the cost of obtaining orks by a ton. You can snag a set of blackreach orks for like 30$ on ebay.
