Cool apothecarie.
Im not sure if it looks more like arctic camouflage than battle damage though.

here's my command squad so far. forgot to keep the helmets white for veteran status, so i gotta go back and redo them.

YAY!! my red scorpions FW order came in;
very pleased with the quality of these casts. there's none of the poor casting typical of most of the FW stuff. even the flashing is minimal.
the etched brass was way way smaller in scale than i had hoped though. like at least half the size i was expecting.
- 1 Set of Land Raider doors
- 1 set of terminator shoulderpads
- 1 set of resin chapter symbols
- 1 set of etched brass
- 1 set of veteran tactical squad conversion kit with veteran sergeant haas

The new stuff looks sweet.
Not sure what you meant about the Storm Shields. The brass looks great on those.
Remind me to show you the "glowie" effect from an old White Dwarf I have. Very similar to you're doing with the plasma.

well you see the brass symbol used on the librarian's shoulder? there's 12 of those on the sheet; i was thinking in terms of scale that those 12 were the size of the one i used on the shield. the one on the shield, they only gave me 4 of in that size. i also wish the strength in purity plaque was bigger so it covered most of the land raider hatch by itself.
Re: Painting Project Challenge for 2011
Ah I see. Did you still have enough brass for the Shields?

On the hammer I would reccomend taking some of the GW blue wash, thin it a little with water, and put a thin layer or two over the work. Should look smoother. After that you might want to add a few white touch ups on the very sharpest corners and stuff on the hammer.

I really like the lightning effect on the hammers and shields. However, you should try doing the hammers red also. Test one and see how it looks. You've got the whole colour wheel on the terminators right now and it looks a little all over the place.

yea, your right about that. i really like the blue one on the hammers, and it'll be the color all power weapons will get, but i did red on the shield to tie into their chapter colors. i think them having the extra colors isnt too bad, given the rest of the army wont, and it still goes well with the grey metal of the armor

Here's my test paint scheme layout for land speeders. think it look spretty good.

Nice, but I think the package of Soft-baked cookies totally MAKES this army.

September Update
little update: a deathwatch demi-squad of sternguard, recently returned to the chapter after a tour of duty.
sergeant has a combi-melta and chainsword, Heavy Weapon specialist is wielding a heavy flamer, another has an auspex and a combi-melta. the other two are just bolters.
and here's an assault demi-squad all finished up to tabletop readyness:
i also just finished weathering a rhino using red's corps' tutorial on the GW site; he plays the same chapter as me and we comment on eachother's stuff on the B&C. he even stated the rhino was looking great. nice praise to hear from the person your copying.
this'll be the rhino shot i use in army builder from now on:

Looks sharp. Only thing that jumps out at me is the decals on the rhino. Are you going to edge those with paint or will the Quik Shade take care of that?

*sigh* yeaaaaaa.....that was a screw up on my part; i put them on without basing with glosscote, and after i coated the model in mattecote afterwards, you could suddenly see alllll the clear spots on the decals. *cuss*. surprised you didnt hear me that night from your place beau. i was livid once i saw the result when it dried.
