NEW HUNTERS LEAGUE

With the old league disolved there's a growing need for a place for people who wish to observe games and learn how to play, generally speaking pick up games are not as fun as organized league play so I've been asked to run a general public league, this is just going to be the regular league from the good old days, escalation, playoffs and in store credit prizes... YAY!

So the format for the league is Escalation, we will be starting at 500pts using the recon patrol rules

The league will start on Wednesday Febuary 9th and end on April 6th, then the top 8 players will enter playoffs starting on Wednesday 13th of April.

I'm limiting points to one win per week, so you will only be able to claim 8 points from playing games and 2pts each week for having a fully painted army. So if you win 1 game with a painted army you get 10pts, if you lose 3 games, and win 1 game with a non painted army you will receive 8pts. The more heavy points value for painting is to emphasize a part of the hobby that I feel is being neglected in Saskatoon.

Playoffs will be similar to before, extra points awarded based on what spot you end up on.

$5 Entry Fee. Money goes to the top 3 finishers from the play offs. Possibly a door prize, depending on the league funds.

Sign up sheet will be at the den on Thursday January 6th.

For games below 500pts use the Recon Patrol Rules as follows:

Force Organization
0-1 HQ
1-6 Troops
0-1 Elite, Fast or Heavy Support
No Named Characters
No 2+ Armour Saves
Nothing with more than 3 wounds
No Vehicles with Front + Side + Rear > 33 (Tau Devilfish is ok at 33, Dreadnought is not at 34)

Scenario's and deployment as detailed for a standard mission in the Big Rule Book

For ALL other games use a Standard Game Type from the Big Rule Book.

Robyn will be handling the points totals with the following points system.

You Lose = 2pts
You Tie = 4pts
You Win = 8pts
Fully Painted = 2pts

Each week you will be limited to receiving 8pts with the option of getting an additional 2 for having a fully painted army.

Playoffs will be 2000 pts lists -15pts for every position you are out of first (Example: 6th place will have a 1925pts list, 8th place will have an 1895pts list, first place will have a 2000pts list)

I might be able to get in on this one. When it says 0-1 elite, fast, heavy does that mean up to one of each, or only one of all three?

And what nights are league nights again?

Ben, it means one from the three not each of the three. and league nights are wednesdays or thursdays.

quick question,

is there a problem with switching armies during the weeks of play or are you wanting this league to have each person only play the one army?

ie: week one, IG,
week two, csm

etc etc

Another quick question: Are we able to switch up our army builds between games, or do we make one 500 pt list and that's it?

i am looking to get back into 40k so this works perfectly i am in 100%. And a side note i have matured a lot in the last year or so so i will not be such a pain in the ass to play against.

@other ben: you can switch armies and builds between games, this is a very general league format, straight win/loss, I don't want to complicate anything. However in the playoffs you can't switch armies or lists, they are locked in.
